DONATION REQUEST: In the wake of hurricane Helene a very large and popular showplace in NC called The Marquee where hundreds of artists displayed and sold their works (and essentially made a living) was totally wiped out. Individual studios in the same area were also destroyed by flood waters. The pictures below show the flooding, what The Marquee looked like before the flood and the devastation afterward. I'm not a natural self promoter, I often feel very awkward talking about my own work...but as a business owner I know I have to toot my own horn when such opportunities arise, even though I'm not comfortable doing it. So here is a very nice piece that Shine-On West Virginia shot several months ago and finally released yesterday. Many thanks to Jillian Howell who was kind enough to be interested in what we do here and for showcasing so many talented people here in West Virginia. Got to do a fun little interview thing today with Susan Nicholas and Taylor Eaton at WSAZ for their Studio 3 show that's on from 11:00 to Noon. This segment will be broadcast on this Friday's show. It was a great deal of fun and they even brought Beeper out, the one I remade the head for waaay back in 1999.

Videos

Here's an old project that I've never gotten around to showing off. Way back in '97 I got to make a mechanical puppet of the Grim Reaper named "Mr. D" for a series of commercials for the Governor's Highway Safety Program. The puppet had full range of eye movement (although you don't get to see that much in the finished commercials), movable eyebrows and cable-controlled hands. These recordings were transferred from VHS to DVD and then converted into MP4 files so the quality isn't that great. I'm very indebted to the good Mr. Jay Piercy for doing the transfer to DVD and to my son, Sean, for the MP4 conversion.
