Which vendor do you book first when you start wedding planning?
Day 2 of 30 Days of Weddings answer the question, but it's not so straight forward. I would love to say "Photographer!" but it really comes down to how involved you want to be in the planning process. I've worked with a variety of brides from those who hired a wedding planner/designer from the get-go, those who did everything DIY, and every type in between. I will say that if you aren't planning on using a wedding planner, the first thing that you need to do is get a venue. This allows you to have a date set, and the rest of the vendors follow suit. As a photographer, it would be hard for me to reserve your date in my calendar when we don't know when the big day will be!
Once you do have a date, THEN contact me immediately for your photography! I booked my first 2026 wedding LAST YEAR!!! And with only 52 weekends in a year, Saturdays start to become scarce ESPECIALLY if you are getting married during the height of the wedding seasons. In north Texas those months would be April & May for Spring and October for Fall.
But it's not just about the wedding day itself, we also need to schedule your engagement session so that way you have photos for your website, save-the-dates and more! So booking your photographer (me! 😁) early has multiple benefits.
Today's post features Linda & Trenton's wedding at one of my favorite venues, Brighton Abbey. I'm biased when I say it's one of my favorites because it's same venue where I got married 😜.
