My final post of my “30 Days of Weddings” campaign comes with my absolute number one tip when it comes to booking your wedding photographer-

I hear way too many stories of brides/couples who get scammed, absolutely disappointed with both their wedding photographer and the photos they received (both in quantity and in quality), and just tons of horror stories. If your wedding photos mean a lot to you, to bring you joy when you look back at them years later, to be keepsakes to pass down to your children… There is one question to ask any photographer you are considering that will help avoid any headaches and give you confidence and peace of mind on your wedding day:

“May I see a full wedding gallery?”

Heck, ask for multiple galleries!

A PORTFOLIO 👏 DOESN’T 👏 TELL 👏 THE FULL 👏 STORY 👏

A portfolio is meant to be the best-of-the-best work. It’s a carefully curated gallery that highlights all the best-case scenario moments!

And the ULTIMATE wedding photography scam… photographers who use styled shoots to pass off as real wedding photos! “Styled shoots” are when a group of vendors spend hours styling a faux wedding and every detail from the florals to the model couple is nitpicked to look like a magazine editorial. But it’s exactly that- an editorial! Its purpose is to showcase and highlight what could be (and even I enjoy shooting the occasional styled shoot). But for the 99% of you future brides, I hope that this sheds some light on the reality of some of those photos.

With that being said, I want to highlight one of my favorite real weddings and in the first picture show you how my gallery looks when delivered to a client. Megan & Rex had a gorgeous mountain castle wedding in Colorado! Between the scenery, the venue, and the rave during the reception… this is one of my most memorable weddings ever!

A little on Day 29 of “30 Days of Weddings” when it comes to choosing your wedding photographer is something just as important as budget, is your vibe WITH the photographer. The only person whom you’ll spend most of your wedding day with, besides your coordinator, is your photographer! And if the personalities don’t match or you the vibe is off, I guarantee that it’ll show in your pictures (and I’m looking especially at you people who wear your emotions on your face like a billboard 😂) The last thing you want is to be uncomfortable with someone on your big day, even worse when they have a giant lens aimed right at you. Do yourself a favor and get to know your photographer. That way you can be comfortable, genuine and authentically smile and have fun on your wedding day and have it show in your wedding photos!

That’s part of my process in building my relationship with each of my couples from the initial consultation, during the engagement session, and all communication in between. My goal is to be as close to “family friend” as possible by your wedding day 😎📸💍

Here’s the big announcement I teased a couple weeks ago… the sports portraits side of my business has unexpectedly (in a great way!) taken a life of its own. I’m currently on the way to my largest sports portrait shoot to date! Over the next three nights I will be photographing the entirety of Clutch Volleyball club: 15 teams, 150 girls!!!
