The 1861 Club was excited to host Evergy's announcement of their plans to build two new 705 MW high-efficiency natural gas plants in Kansas, with one being in Reno County on Monday, October 21.

Hutch Chamber President & CEO Debra Tuefel welcomed the crowd of nearly 200 people to Reno County, Hutchinson and the 1861 Club talking about what creating an opportunity for this investment of approximately $1Billion has included and what it can mean to the community. Remarks on this incredible economic announcement were provided by Evergy Chairman, President & CEO, David Campbell; Kansas Governor Laura Kelly; US Congressman, Tracey Mann; Kansas Senate President, Ty Masterson; Kansas Speaker of the House, Dan Hawkins; Hutchinson Mayor Greg Fast; and others.

The 1861 Club and the Kansas Fairgrounds Foundation are humbled to be a part of such a historic day and this wonderful announcement for the Hutchinson community and the State of Kansas.
