Today I changed our hours to “Temporarily Closed”

Almost a year ago to the day I accepted a job as an Agriculture education teacher at a nearby school. I had majored in ag ed 14 years ago but at the time I was a single mom and felt there was no way I could do either one justice. Something would lose out… my family or my job. So I taught elementary for 11 years.

Three years ago I walked away from my classroom to really focus on our farm. Flowers, animals and all the visitors!

The last year being back in the classroom has been pretty amazing. There have been a lot of highs and some lows, but I want to try it another year. I have even considered another 10!!

And that means something has to lose. 💔

These Black Eyed Susans came back voluntarily along with some others. I have a few sunflowers that sprung up by the chicken coop. That’s all we had. I smile every time I see them and it does my heart good.

Our whole family has enjoyed all the visitors over the years, the farmers markets, the weddings and everything in between. We have been blessed!

Maybe one day we can open up again. My heart is still in that flower field ❤️

Thank you all for your support over the last six years. It has been more than we could have ever hoped for.

Today is August 11 and this little boy just came in the house with the first bouquet we have cut this year. If you would have told me in March when we were on schedule what the next 5 months would be like, I would have been shocked.

Medical issues, a major drought and a new job. None of which we saw coming. My family has tried hard to maintain the farm the best we could. But there is only so much time in the day and only so many people.

The medical issues are being resolved. Large amounts of glorious rain have blessed our parched earth. Right after we decided to stop watering the flowers because we didn’t know what the future would hold for our livestock. The weeds have thrived! We have worked through those obstacles.

The new job is however a different beast. I took a job as an agriculture education teacher in a neighboring town (for those following us and aren’t local). This new job which I accepted in late June, started July 1 and is a twelve month contract gig. And it is a lot and I am LOVING it! But it’s a lot! I haven’t even started teaching yet, as the last 6 weeks has been a lot of planning, cleaning and organizing.

Consequently the farm has suffered as we try to figure out our new path. I apologize if we have missed calls and messages. The farm isn’t closing but we are definitely turning it down to a healthy and manageable level.

All your support over the years has been incredibly amazing and I have loved every moment of living out this dream. I’m still living it, just need to adjust it.

Tonight I’m enjoying this bouquet my sweet boy went and cut for his momma. Coyer knew my heart was a little heavy today when I realized we hadn’t cut anything yet this year.

You know what, I’m confident all of this is part of God’s plan and that makes it okay. 💜

Today was a great day for a GREAT day with some amazing preschoolers! We picniced, we planted, we fed animals and we just had so much fun! They of course loved everything! Drinking out of the water hydrant and playing in the corn were big hits. Nothing compared to the hayride and the puppies!! 😍😍😍

Thank you Crocker Preschool for coming and spending the day with us. These are our favorites!

We welcomed in spring yesterday with a bang. Not joking about the wind we have on this hill. Scott had several pieces of rebar in the ground over a foot deep.
