Standard Operating Procedures:
Four Leaf Face Painting’s Safety and Hygiene Practices:
Products are Compliant with FDA guidelines and designed for use on the skin; most high quality makeups contain antibacterial antimicrobial components as these do.
I will always ONLY use the right products that are safe for face and body painting.
These makeup products are DRY to the touch and are activated only with fresh, clean water, which gives them their creamy texture. After all events, lids are left off so that the moisture can evaporate (bacteria cannot survive without water).
Acrylics and water-based poster paints are never used as they are not skin safe.
I use a specialized water feeder called a Rinse Well. It allows me to wash and drop dirty paint water into a lower compartment and it then automatically gravity feeds in fresh clean water that contains a brush sanitizer.
I use only One sponge for the application of makeup (base colors/stencils) per guest. No re-dipping in the makeup. Once the makeup has been applied, each sponge is discarded for later washing in hot laundry water with detergent.
Brushes are cleaned and sanitized, with alcohol/boiling water dip, during every job and in between guests they are regularly washed by the rinse well basin containing sanitizer.
Individual cotton swabs are used for application of lipstick, never brushes! After application to the lips, the swab is discarded. No double dipping.
I will always wash my hands after setting up and prior to the start of my painting… I may ask where the bathroom is just so I can Wash with with soap and water before the event starts. If not available, I will use additional hand sanitizing methods I have with me.
I will frequently clean my hands by the use of hand sanitizer in between guests. With winter ending so is dry hand season but if there are any visible cuts or injuries on my hands, I will use disposable NON-Latex gloves.
I will bring my own properly cleaned directors chair and will clean it regularly throughout the event. Anti-bacterial wipes are also used on all hard non porous surfaces.
During the event, I may need to stop to refresh water basins, and clean surfaces. Please keep on mind that it may take a few minutes between guests but in order to protect those guests is necessary step.
Makeup is only be applied to clean, dry skin, without damage, rash or wounds.
I am unable to paint over freshly healed skin, but instead encourage a hand or arm painting instead.
I also require a clean and dry “canvas” to start. I will have clean wet wipes available for guests to use prior to getting decorated.
After each event, brushes are again cleaned thoroughly with soap and hot water, and then sterilized by dipping in rubbing alcohol/boiling water.
Good judgement should always err on the side of caution.
If a guest is clearly ill, they will not be able to get painted, but I will try and provide them with another form entertainment.
Ex.Stickers, bling, stamps with designs, and glitter tattoos are all acceptable body art alternatives.
