Each week all containers need to be cleaned and sanitized before being used for fresh flowers. Bacteria will shorten the vase life so this is an important step to ensure long lasting flowers!
This is the Koko Loko rose. She’s beautiful! I just planted it a month ago and already a bloom. I’m hooked! I think I need more! Thank you @heirloomroses for such quality roses!
This is the main area where I grow cut flowers. The majority of the ones that are just starting to bloom were planted last fall. They are annuals and can handle the cold temperatures.
I have several more areas all around the house where I grow a mix of perennials and annuals for the purpose of cutting.
First tulip of the season ready for harvest! Not far behind are the anemones and ranunculus! Stay tuned- I’ll have spring bouquets in just a couple weeks!
I picked up these beautiful hellebores from Trader Joe’s yesterday.
They are also known as the Lenten Rose and are some of the first flowers to bloom in spring. They come in an array of shades from white, to blush and pink to deep plum. There are also some with light green blooms. They are easy to grow, love the cold and plenty of shade. The plants can be divided after a couple years of growth for more blooms! the best part is they make a great cut flower!
