AshLee “PsyWrn Simone” Baskin is an Indianapolis-based performing artist and arts advocate/educator, known for blending activism and art in collaborations with bands, collectives and prominent musicians. Her genre-blending musical style has been described as “Neo-Afro Soul with a side of funk.” She has been a featured artist at the Indy Arts Council’s annual Art & Soul Celebration and in projects with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra. Baskin is associate artistic director for the Asante Art Institute and serves on the board of the Inspire Music Collective.

Lylanne Musselman reads for National Poetry Month
Today, we're hearing from Lylanne Musselman as we continue our readings in honor of National Poetry Month at the Indianapolis Artsgarden.
Lylanne Musselman is a native Hoosier and resides in Indianapolis , Indiana. She teaches creative writing classes at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis, and at the University of Indianapolis' School of Adult Learning. Lylanne is a regular contributor on WFHB radio's BloomingOUT with her story feature L WordS. An award winning poet, her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Flying Island, New Voices News, Etchings, Tipton Poetry Journal, Poetry Motel, and many others.

Art & Soul 2019
We can't wait for Art & Soul 2019! Celebrate Black History Month with us in the Indianapolis Artsgarden! This year, we present four Featured Artists: Allison Victoria (vocal artist), Joshua Thompson (pianist), Lalah Hazelwood (contemporary dancer), and Shamira Wilson (visual artist). All performances begin at 12:15 and are free and open to the public. Join us for our Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, February 2 in the Artsgarden.
