Another wonderful night at the SIMP-phony! Haha! Get it? Jokes aside, the Simpson Community Orchestra had us all tearing up tonight with their gorgeous set of Romantic era music! From Dvořák to Puccini, the orchestra played our heart strings this evening and did not disappoint!

The saddest part of the year is upon us: graduation! The music department always dedicates time to those that have dedicated so much of theirs to making music with us at our Senior Celebration. This lunch was full of jokes, stories, and good vibes all around. While we are super proud of our seniors, it’s always bittersweet to watch them go— though we have no doubt that they will all lead fabulous careers!

Simpson guest trumpet artist, Andrew Bishop, was phenomenal in his recent trumpet recital. Playing multiple trumpet instruments, and being accompanied by both piano and organ, Andrew wowed audience members!

Join us February 26th at 7:00 PM for a Guest Artist Recital featuring Andrew Bishop, principal trumpet player with the Des Moines Symphony Orchestra! 🎺

Originally hailing from Lindsborg, KS, and a graduate of Wichita State and the University of Missouri, Bishop continues to enjoy a successful career spanning a wide variety of engagements as both a soloist, chamber musician, and ensemble player.

Bishop will be joined by Genevieve Bishop on organ and Simpson faculty member Jin Young Park on piano.

Admission is free and all are welcome. We hope you’ll join us for a wonderful evening of music!

ACDA was a blast and a half!
Two students interested in choral co ducting went to this year’s Regional conference in Omaha. They left with loads of information and met so many lovely people, one of which being a Simpson Alum who is currently obtaining his Music Doctorate from Auburn. Our students, as well as choral conductor Dr. Jon Arnold, got to work with nationally-known conducting names such as Dr. Anne Howard Jones and Dr. Tom Trenny! This work culminated in a concert put on during the final night of the conference! Suffice it to say, they had a very great time!

The 3 adjudicators (judges) from the Simpson Jazz Festival will be putting on 2 FREE Jazz Concerts, in collaboration with Waukee local Chris Clausen on drums and Simpson's own Dr. Steven Heffner on bass! These two concerts are open to the public.

Concerts:
TONIGHT, Thursday, January 25 at 7 PM in Lekberg Hall.
Friday, January 26 at 7:30 PM in Lekberg Hall.

Many alumni, current music students, and area music teachers ventured out in the cold today to participate in our Music Education Workshop presented by David Row. Many great ideas were shared by Mr. Row, and these will directly impact music students in area schools. It was a great day.
