Music at Simpson We are a distinctively student-centered music department that believes strongly in the creative and intellectual growth of every student. in Music.

Music at Simpson College offers three undergraduate degrees in music - the B.M. in Music Performance, B.M. in Music Education, and a B.A. It also offers two minors - Music and Arts Management. Through a partnership with CORO, Music at Simpson also offers one graduate degree - the M.M. in Choral Conducting, a degree that is completed in three summers on the College campus. The Simpson College Community Orchestra will present its fall concert on Sunday, November 24th, at 7:30 pm in the Blank Performing Arts Center (BPAC). A dessert reception will follow the performance.

The free, hour-long concert is family-friendly. The orchestra invites community members who have never attended an orchestra concert to feel comfortable to do so. Because the concert is only an hour in length, features literature that has been chosen for its variety and accessibility, and has been planned to appeal to musician and non-musician audience members alike, an SCCO concert is an easy first orchestra concert to attend. Come for the music; stay for the sweets!

An accomplished music director in both opera and musical theatre, Dr. Stevens’ recent opera productions for Northern Kentucky University’s Music Program include Trial by Jury, Gallantry, La Canterina, Dido and Aeneas, The Tender Land, and others. For the Theatre Program, his recent credits include NKU’s regional premieres of The Lightning Thief and Freaky Friday as well as H.M.S. Simpson proudly welcomes Dr. Jenny Cresswell, our new Assistant Professor of Voice and our Department Recruiter! Jenny is a multi-talented artist and educator. She has performed in numerous operas and concert performances. In addition to the stage, Jenny is an accomplished writer, authoring libretti for multiple works, magazine articles and poetry! She has also created a singing technique app called GoPractice. Welcome, Jenny!

The saddest part of the year is upon us: graduation! The music department always dedicates time to those that have dedicated so much of theirs to making music with us at our Senior Celebration. This lunch was full of jokes, stories, and good vibes all around. While we are super proud of our seniors, it’s always bittersweet to watch them go— though we have no doubt that they will all lead fabulous careers!
