💡 Behind every great cup of coffee is a sample roast the guides us to the perfect coffee! Sample roasting is the process of roasting small amounts of green coffee beans to evaluate their quality and uniformity. It’s a key step in our Roastery’s purchase of green coffee.
:
☕️🌱 Pictured here: roasted coffee beans from this week’s sample roast & CHAFF. Fun fact: Chaff (also known as silverskin or husk) is the dried skin of coffee beans that falls off during roasting due to the application of heat. Light and fluffy in texture, chaff serves an important purpose in the coffee roasting process. First, chaff’s thin, lightweight nature helps regulate the temperature of the beans as they roast, preventing them from overheating and burning. Further, chaff absorbs some of the flavors that develop during roasting, contributing to the coffee’s overall flavor profile. While chaff might not make it to your cup, it plays an important role in every perfect roast!

🖼️ Join us next TUES. SEPTEMBER 24th for an evening of music, beverages, conversation, and art, featuring a viewing of the “COMING OF AGE” exhibit, currently on view Inglewood, and a fireside chat with artist Nia Simone . Doors open at 7:00pm 🎶☕👩🏾‍🎨
:
From a child growing up in Compton, Nia was always drawing or coloring, and by the age of six, her life would change and she would spend the rest of her formative years in Ohio, leaving her vulnerable to the criticisms that came along with being “different.” By the time she was a teenager, her drawings transformed along with her experiences, allowing Nia to find safety within her paintings, expressing her most raw emotions. In “Coming of Age,” Nia uses self-portraiture and surrealism to expand upon the complexities of Black womanhood. In an attempt to birth room for empathy, and self-discovery through juxtaposing emotions and topics we may dismiss as a community with saturated colors and detailed backgrounds, she invites us as viewers to reflect, grow, and heal.  Whether it be topics of intergenerational trauma, not feeling pretty enough, our relationships with one another, illness or just being young, she hopes that people don’t shy away from tears and hurt in an attempt to hide behind facades, instead understanding that the only way out is through, and when we make it out, boy was the journey worth it.✨💫

🖼️ presents “GLAD UR HERE” by artist Mason Foster , currently on view Inglewood for the month of August! ✨ Swing by the Inglewood coffeehouse today to check it out!
:
Mason is an artist from Los Angeles and San Diego who hopes to integrate all of the things she loves into pieces that impact people. “Glad Ur Here” was born from Mason’s frustrations around what and who society deems to be important. There was a time when she was embarrassed of herself for not being “something,” but she was convinced that changing this part of the culture could happen if people were inspired to change their minds. With “Glad Ur Here,” Mason focuses on how kids have the power to give value to even the smallest things, like balloons, stuffed animals, and old blankets, which all only have value because they say so. “Glad Ur Here” is a reminder for anyone else that feels undervalued, underestimated, or embarrassed that you still have that power to make yourself and those around you more important simply because you say so. “And even when it feels like no one cares, I am really glad ur here." ❤️✨
