The 2024 Chili Open is in the books! It was a beautiful day to play golf and raise money for the Elks Golf Course Improvement Fund. Congrats to the teams of Hartsock/Abraham/Jordan/Jordan and Giles/Sperflage/Dunbar/Timlin for both shooting 61’s! Drinks were on Don Sharp as he nailed a Hole-in-one on #5! Additionally, congrats to Sperflage & Giles for a combo Albatross on #4!

Thank you to our hole sponsors and chili sponsors! Jerry & Cam, the food was delicious! Special thanks to Marissa Geisler for running the beverage cart! And Ned and the golf course crew had the course in great shape as always!

Last week we welcomed a great group of veterans to the Elks for a 4-day golf clinic. Thank you to all volunteers, staff, and especially veterans that participated.

And Now for Next Year

The 2024 Glenn Roberts Elks/Iowa City Hospice Golf Classic was held July 29, 2024, representing the 28th year for this outstanding event. Both the morning and afternoon rounds had a maximum of ten teams participating. The Event Committee “shout outs” are sent to Terry Anderson for organizing a great day of golf for participants, Diane Livingston for rounding up the volunteers to support event requirements, and Mark Law (United Iowa Financial) for adding fun and opportunity to the event while raising a few more dollars for Hospice.

Bottom line, $18,245 was raised, and a good time was had by all. The Committee expresses its thanks and appreciation to the volunteers, participants and all those contributing to the event’s success.

A selection of wines will be on hand from our distributor Southern Glazers Wine & Spirits. All wines can be found on our wine list everyday & will be made available for retail purchase with discounts for orders of 6 or more bottles!

Today we remember the attack on our country 23 years ago and the nearly 3,000 Americans who died, including first responders. We stand with every American on Patriot Day to honor and remember those lost and their families.
