Our Senior Nutrition Program is much more than just meals.
We provide congregate meals - "meals with friends" - and exercise and enrichment programs at our 25 Senior Centers. If you are a homebound senior, we bring lunch to you. We also deliver door-to-door meals for rural, isolated and disabled seniors, a friendly face and a chance to check in.

Basketball Registration Time!

It's the first day of registration for the 2024 Spring/ Summer Basketball season! All of the information and questions you may have are answered below. The registration link is located at the end of this post.

Basketball divisions: Divisions are separated by age levels. The groupings of ages will rely on the number of players registered for each age group. Children from 6 to 16 may be registered to play. The age of the child on January 1, 2024, determines eligibility.

Evaluations: (not a tryout, everyone will be placed on a team) is a session of skill assessments that will help ensure all of our teams have players of different skill levels, to make each team fair and even. If the player is a child of a coach, then the coach has the option to automatically take their child onto their team as long as they are within the appropriate age divisions. Evaluations are mandatory to be placed on a team. When you arrive, please sign in your child and they will be assigned a number and instructed on where to go. The evaluation process will not take long.
**IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN WHO MUST BE ON THE SAME TEAM, you must inform Jerry Ford or Sandra Lannie immediately after completing the children's registrations.**

Important dates:
Registration begins at 8 a.m. on April 1, 2024
The last day of registration is Sunday, April 28, 2024
Evaluation day is Sunday, April 28, 2024
Basketball practices begin April 29, 2024
The first games are played on May 11, 2024
Games 2 - 5 are held consecutively on Saturdays from May 18th to June 8th, 2024
The last games (game 6) will be played June 15, 2024
Playoffs are Thursday, June 20th and Friday, June 21st 2024
Championship Games are played on Saturday, June 22, 2024
Trophy and medal presentations are immediately after the Championship Games

FEES: Season fees of $55.00, cover the players' reversible jersey, shorts, and end-of-the-season award. Players will need to have appropriate basketball/gym shoes, and undergarments for the jersey or shorts if the player chooses to wear them under their uniform.

Practices: Practices are held at the Bayou La Batre Community Center on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings. Friday night practices may also be utilized if registration numbers require an additional practice day. Practices are on half court and last one hour. It is to the discretion of the Coach what the day and time will be.

Photos: Team and Individual photos will be taken early to mid-season.

Coaches: Coaches and Assistant Coaches are needed! PLEASE enquire by messaging the Bayou Area Basketball Association's page. The link to the page is at the bottom of this page.
