I’d like to take a minute and thank everyone who supported our missions up to Burnsville since Hurricane Helene.

There are a lot of people in a world of hurt. Mountain folk are so resilient and strong. They are going to get through this together with their strong faith in God.

The recovery work is far from over. There are a lot of trucks and dozers, manpower rebuilding washed out bridges and roads so people can get out into town where all the supplies are staged.

World Central Kitchen and The Cajun Army/Navy continue to feed people daily. The National Guard has tons of equipment removing debris, mud and rocks. Some folk will not have electric for months.

Please continue to pray for them and to continue to donate to worthy organizations like World Central Kitchen. When the time is right to visit, your tourist dollars will go a long way towards uplifting their economy.

Again, thank you for all you’ve done. It has meant so much to all of us ❤️‍🩹

Louis Mulkey, Mike Benke, Melven Champaign, William Hutchinson, Rodney “Brad” Baity, James Drayton, Mark Kelsey, Michael French and Brandon Thompson went in to conduct an interior attack when part of the structure collapsed and trapped them inside. Fire fighters on the outside were unable to reach their trapped brothers in time to save them.

No matter how much time has passed, we will always take pause to remember these nine brave men and the sacrifice they made that day.
