Hey everybody! You may have noticed Glob has gone kinda dormant! Partly this is because of the beautiful summer weather making me want to be outside and partly because I’ve been slowly working on some improvements!

JP’s Tiny Glob was great, and i got two really nice videos for the YouTube channel, but continued technical difficulties made me want to really up my video game.

I’ve put together a dedicated video computer for live-streaming and recording and mounted a monitor in the vocal booth. I also ceiling-mounted a camcorder that will allow better lighting and framing of performances.

I’d like to have a second camera from a side angle as well, possibly one for close-ups and one for an audience view as well. Then, someone could sit at the video computer and switch through the different camera feeds in real-time!

And speaking of real time camera views, I’m planning to sign up for a service called restream, which will let us stream to 5 different streaming services simultaneously. I think this and the multiple camera angles will be something that could give the studio something special to offer.

Finally, i installed a curtain rod across the whole room so there can be optional backdrops. As you can see in the pic, i have a small black curtain and a small green screen. I’m hoping to get larger ones eventually, as well as more professional cameras, but i want to do a little “proof of concept” experimentation before making big investments.

If anyone is getting excited to learn more about this video stuff, please reach out! I could definitely use help! Also, if you’ve got a full-HD camcorder with an HDMI out laying around that you never use, perhaps you’d like to loan it for a little while!
