What made up my pretty shop space for the past year and a half is now reduced to two piles in the garage: keep and toss.
I asked Gabe earlier how to close the garage doors because I didn't want anyone to see the "debris" that we piled up over the weekend.
Don't worry, we have a dumpster coming. Again.
But sitting here staring at the piles, I am letting myself feel.
It's been an overwhelming day of phone calls to Comcast Business and Clover and Huntington, working on a website overhaul, new POS system, catching up on emails and inquiries, editing, and trying to figure out how to get back on my feet. I think my current thought is: I didn't know it would feel like starting over. Again.
I have a lot more insecurities and worries about this step than I thought I would.
If I am honest about all of this, I want to quit and just shut it all down, but I know myself, and I am hoping tomorrow's Kendra will prove today Kendra wrong. That's partially why I am writing this all down. I want to look back and remember feeling this way. I also want you all to know that sometimes growth, sucess, entrepreneurship, and creativity look like this. There will be moments where you want to smash it all into pieces and walk away. There will be moments where everything is a jumbled mess. You cry and feel angry and frustrated and so tired.
But then you wipe your eyes, have a drink, and keep going.
I am letting myself feel the loss of a dream today and all of the ugliness that comes with that. Like these cluttered garage bays. It's a lot. It's jumbled. It's overwhelming. But I have hope that it will turn into something pretty again.
Things will look different for a bit until we adjust and unpack and get legalities figured out BUT please continue to order flowers - flowers are available daily for pickup and delivery.

Only three more days. It feels bittersweet, but I am ready to move on to our next chapter and get to work. Help us say goodbye to Mechanic Street on Saturday with our final stem bar and cocktails. From noon to 2pm, we will have refreshments, ready made bouquets and loose stems priced from $2 to $10 per stem. We also have a few clearance items (books, candlestick holders, etc.) that will be there too, but mostly just flowers.

You guys, I am absolutely blown away by the amount of support and just outpouring of love following yesterday's post. Literally like speechless. I was not expecting that. Just thank you.
I tried my best respond to all inquiries and messages yesterday, but if I missed you - feel free to text me at 517 358 6336. I also made a length post on Facebook to answer questions and share links. Some of the questions I got were: How do I order flowers/what are your prices? What is a workshop and when are they? What kind of wreaths will you have and how much? What are your hours/is your shop closing?
I answered all those in my FB post, because IG is a difficult platform for all that haha.
I will be launching the wreaths on the website officially today - they will range from $50 to $150. There will be three kinds: grapevine and dried florals, magnolia leaves, and Christmas greenery in order of price.
I will be at the shop from 11am to 2:30pm today, and yes, I have tons of flowers!

You guys, I am blown away by the response to my last post. Thank you.

I decided to make a post to answer as many questions as I can.

Yes, I know our shop is weird right now. We are moving out of our Mechanic Street location at the end of next week. Because of this, our hours have varied. I will be at the shop Wed-Friday 11 to 2:30 this week. Next week, I will be there Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday 11 to 4. Saturday is our Farewell Party and stem bar from noon to 2. After that, we will function out of our home like old times. When that happens, for the foreseeable future, flowers will be available by ordering only - simply because it's our home, not a shop. My hope is still to have flowers available daily like I do now. The only difference will be the lack of physical shop space and walkins. I try to be very clear about when I will be at the shop and what is going on - it is always a good idea to check our IG or FB page, but I also have a lot of info on our website as well as links to place orders. Website orders are always available, even on days that the shop is closed!

Workshops: I walk you through creating a centerpiece that you take home at the end of the night. There is always champagne or a cocktail and some snacks. There are three coming up, one for Thanksgiving (Tuesday from 6 to 9), a Christmas and Valentine's Day. Here is a link to those:

Prices are flexible - I typically ask for a budget and can make something to fit. The average arrangement is around $50 for pickup/walkins. Wrapped bouquets can be made on the spot while centerpiece style arrangements take a bit more time.

This is a pretty photo for sort of an ugly post. I'm gonna be real:
I cannot tell you guys how much I need you to order flowers. I need Thanksgiving and Christmas flowers orders. I need workshop orders. Funeral orders. Just because orders. If you are planning to buy flowers for Thanksgiving or Christmas, please pre-order.
The Mechanic Street Mix-a-Palooza has been canceled - we just did not sell enough tickets to even remotely cover costs.
There are spaces left in our Thanksgiving workshop that need to be filled to cover the actual cost of the class, and the Christmas workshop will likely be canceled.
I have ordered flowers for our Farewell Party sort of as a leap (read enormous leap) of faith.
I am going to drop bouquets off at Five Forks this morning. Later today, I will launch spring bouquet subscriptions online. I am making wreaths later today hopefully too. I am trying everything, but I am exhausted.
I know my feed looks pretty, and it is easy to paint the picture of sucess in reels and photos, but I'm not up to it today. I know it's not a social norm to make a post like this, and maybe it isn't even okay. Maybe it is the most cringey thing I have ever done. But I am being real.

It's hard to explain how much it meant to be a part of 's wedding on Saturday. To end the season this way was obviously fabulous, but more - for it to be the final wedding in the shop space AND it is the final wedding on the books that Courtney and I booked together. I am feeling a lot of emotions, mostly grateful, but also melancholy (one of my favorite words - if you know - you know). Looking at this wedding on the calendar often felt like seeing the end, but having completed it, seeing the beautiful photos by and video by - it's just the beginning of a new chapter for the Front Porch.
Next week is the final week in our space on Mechanic Street before we move back to home base and operate once again out of the actual front porch. I am resting today, but there's a ton going on in the next two weeks, so stay tuned.
