Ione Farm Update #6!!🌹Poppy the farm kitty makes sure we listen to Mother Necessity to work smarter and not harder! 🌹🪻While pulling 6’ tall thistle from our rockpiles, we use bedstraw w**d to gather it up and place atop other noxious w**ds to let it all rot together. 🪻🚜We hang the drip tape from our Kubota to roll it out easier - no more back-breaking allowed! 🚜🪻The final load of lilacs came in and sold out for the season, and we planted more for next year!🪻🌺And some visiting pollinators…🌺

💜Farm Update #5:🪻Lilac harvest time is here — and it will be gone quickly. 🪻These locally grown double flower deep purple lilacs have the most wonderful scent when picked in the early morning.🪻Some of you will be getting these flowers in your bouquets this week…💜

Farm Update #3: 💐🐉Kim’s Kitchen-Window Snapdragons are happily wiggling their toes in some of Ione’s best soil. Jen’s using our magic 2x4 seeder to get 560 🌻 sunflowers in the ground this sunny morning. 🌞 24 rows of flowers so far this year… coming soon to a bouquet for you!🌺

2024 Farm Update 🚜Spring has sprung at our Ione farm (we decided to forget about that hail!) Last month we took over 200 cuttings from a few lavender plants 🌱that had qualities we liked. Apparently they like us, too, because they’re growing like crazy! Check out the captions for each photo for more neat stuff. 🌱🌱

2024 Farm Update “ #1”
Our fall-planted kale is coming up quite fine, according to Baxter. The daisies, clarkia, poppies, bachelor button, phacelia, clover and more groundcovers are popping up. Even some of our 1,500 sunflowers may have come up today! 🌻

We are very excited to see what makes its way into your pretty bouquets! 💐

Hopefully the very aggressive thistles growing 3 inches a day will stand aside for these beauties, but hope really doesn’t take the place of a shovel…or a mower. 😮
