Becoming a mother changed my life. The moment that I laid eyes on my oldest son, Shamari, I wanted to not only give him the world but also have a career that allowed me to be involved in his life. What better way to do that than to be my own boss.
I have always enjoyed doing anything that allowed me to be creative, I started designing when I was in high school. I would do invitations and church programs and I would assist my cousin who was an event planner. Shamari inspired me to pick up a camera in 2012, he was such a beautiful baby and I was spending so much money having his pictures done every other month ( I know I am extra lol). I started out just working with other photographers learning the craft of photography, then in 2014 I made the choice to start my own business, MzKemiePhotoz.
I also got back into party planning when Shamari came, it started with his baby shower and every milestone to follow. Then people started asking me to do their events and another business was born, MzKemie Designz & Eventz, which was the event planning and graphic design. February 2015 after having my second son, Devon, I stepped out on faith and became a full time business owner. It wasn’t easy and there was so many times I felt like my dream was out of reach, but I stuck it out.
Fast forward to 2019, I now have added being an Aflac agent (a pretty darn good one too!) to my resume and I am still my own boss. I am sitting at my desk one day and I decide that I want to just have one business name for all three businesses ( I was so over carrying around all those different business cards). I thought about a name for a week and by Friday I came up with the perfect name, Elite Accents by Kemie.
