TECH TUESDAY TIP: Using Slash Commands in Microsoft Teams

One of the best MS Teams "hacks" is using slash commands in the search bar, which allow you to perform common tasks and navigate quickly without clicking through menus.

Go to a specific team or channel: Type "/goto" followed by the name of the team or channel.

Access your saved items: Type "/saved" to instantly bring up all the messages you have bookmarked.

Quickly view your recent files: Type "/files" to see a list of your most recent documents.

Check your availability: Type "/available" or "/busy" to quickly update your status.

See all available commands: Type "/" into the search bar for a full list of options.

TECH TUESDAY TIP: How to disable Google Gemini from reading your emails...

1. Open Gmail settings: Log in to your Gmail account on a desktop browser, click the gear icon in the top right, and select See all settings.

2. Find smart features: In the General tab, scroll down to the "Google Workspace smart features" section.

3. Manage smart feature settings: Click the Manage Workspace smart feature settings button to open the controls.

4. Turn off smart features: Toggle off the "Smart features in Google Workspace" option.

5. Save your changes: Click Save at the bottom of the page to apply the changes.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Disabling the general "smart features" setting that controls Gemini features also removes the Promotion and Social filters or tabs.

TECH TUESDAY TIP: AirPods and Androids and Bears, Oh My!!!

Did you know that you can connect AirPods to an Android device using the standard Bluetooth pairing process? Follow the steps below if interested!

1. Enable Bluetooth on your Android device: Go to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth and turn it on.

2. Open the AirPods case: Place your AirPods in their charging case and open the lid.

3. Put the AirPods in pairing mode:

For AirPods (3rd gen), AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max: Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes white. For AirPods Max, press the noise control button on the top of the right earphone.

For AirPods (4th gen): Double-tap the front of the case until the status light flashes white.

4. Select your AirPods on your Android device: Your AirPods should appear in the list of available devices. Tap on them to pair.

TECH TUESDAY TIPS: Microsoft Outlook

Did you know you can add multiple email accounts to Microsoft Outlook? You can even add accounts from Gmail, iCloud or Yahoo! Follow the steps below to learn how it's done...

1. Open the new version of Outlook (not classic) on your laptop or desktop
2. Select the View tab
3. Select View settings
4. Select the Account icon on the left
5. Under Email accounts, select Add Account.
6. Select a suggested account or enter the email address, then click Continue
7. If prompted, enter the password for the account and select Done
