Call for Fiber Artists! Submit your artwork by midnight on January 31, 2025, for Art 634's Annual Fiber Arts Show! To apply, email [email protected] with images of your work, dimensions, and details about the medium used. A committee of artists will review all entries and notify selected artists via email.

The exhibition will open on February 15, 6-9 pm, with live music, light refreshments, and an opportunity to meet the artists and fellow fiber art enthusiasts. The group exhibition will be on display from February 15 to March 16, 2025, at the Art 634 galleries.

This event will be held as part of the Soul to Soil Exhibit at Art 634 in Jackson, MI. This exhibition aims to feature artwork and educational events exploring our relationship to death, dying, and grief—topics often considered taboo in Western culture. Exhibited pieces examine death as a natural part of life and interrogate the wider social and cultural implications of treating death and grief as taboo.

What is a Death Cafe?
A Death Cafe is a social franchise. Hosts/facilitators sign up and follow principles and guidelines while using the name Death Cafe.

Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'. A Death Cafe is a group directed discussion of death with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counseling session.

Q***r Death Cafe is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ folks to gather and talk about all things death.

Soul to Soil is a multi-disciplinary gallery event weaving the visual arts to education and activism. Make plans to join us for the opening reception on January 11th at Art 634 in Jackson, MI. This gallery event aims to feature artwork and educational events exploring our relationship to death, dying, and grief—topics often considered taboo in Western culture.

Ongoing activities throughout the opening reception include light refreshments, live music by Banjo Mike Evans, and community burial basket weaving with Michael Marie. Plus a Conservation Cemetery Talk from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, followed by the Panel on Natural Burial and Deathcare from 7:30 to 8:30 pm.

Check out Soul to Soil's continued schedule of events taking place at Art 634 between January 11 and February 8, 2025. Art will remain up until the closing reception on Feb 8.

CALL FOR ART submissions for our upcoming Fiber Arts Show, a juried group exhibition that will explore the versatility and creativity of fiber-based art. This exhibition will be on view from February 15 to March 16, 2024, in the Art 634 galleries in Jackson, Michigan.

We invite artists working in all fiber art forms—textiles, weaving, knitting, embroidery, mixed media, and sculpture—to submit their work. Whether your approach is traditional, contemporary, or experimental, we are eager to see how you express your artistic vision through fiber.

To submit, please email [email protected] by midnight on January 31, 2024. Include images of your artwork, along with the title, size, and medium for each piece. A brief artist statement is optional but encouraged. Artists whose work is selected will be notified, and all accepted pieces must be delivered to Art 634 on February 9, 2024 between 4–6 pm.

Artists are welcome to submit multiple pieces for consideration. The opening reception will be held on February 15, 2024, from 6–9 pm, featuring live music, light refreshments, and the chance to meet the artists and fellow art enthusiasts.

We look forward to showcasing your fiber art and celebrating its creativity and craftsmanship!
