👉ALL ABOUT DAN - DAY 12 OF 40

OMG it's June. My birthday month! And this special Facebook exclusive feature rolls right along, celebrating my upcoming milestone birthday with 40 fun facts about my life, career, family, and more.

🎹 Music was a very important part of my childhood. 10 years of piano lessons. 8 years of trumpet. (Pictured here, playing Taps at a Memorial Day ceremony with my buddy Kyle and his stupid red trumpet.)

Marching band was a huge part of my high school experience. And I still love proudly cheering on the JMHS Jaguar Band *AND* JLHS Lion Band every fall.

I miss music, as I unfortunately fell away from it in college and beyond. I'd love to get back into playing regularly some day. I am very excited that my oldest son Jackson has signed up for his elementary school band next year! 🎼

Special shout to these five high school musicians! They volunteered their time to rehearse and perform on the final Sixth Grade Band selection. 6th graders and audience members were treated to the sounds of a full low winds section for that composition.

As you may know, there is a special board meeting that is a Public Forum on the Proposed Budget on Tuesday, May 7 at 6 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center of Jackson Memorial High School. During this meeting, we will explain the challenges of losing $22.4 million in state aid over the past 7 years, as well as the challenges of a $30 million budget deficit. To cap off the evening, we would like to highlight our current Colorguard Advisor, Mr. Shipp!!

Towards the end of our marching band season, Mr. Shipp went through a pretty rigorous audition process to be included in the World Class color guard, Black Watch. To no one’s surprise, he was offered a contract for the season!

Over the last four months, he has been training with this organization and competing on the weekends…all while maintaining a full time job and weekly rehearsals with our color guard ensemble.

Please help us congratulate Mr. Shipp on a successful season and wish him nothing but the best in his final competitions of the season!!

To start, as a result of his All State acceptance, Nate, was invited to play in a side-by-side concert with the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble. Their spring concert was this past Saturday and apparently, Nate got to meet the current Miss New Jersey!!

Congrats to Nate and the rest of the ensemble!

If you have not done so already, please consider reading the second image, published by the Jackson School District, regarding the budget for the 2024-2025 School Year.

In order to continue having experiences and memories like the first photo, you must reach out to your state legislators! There is a QR code at the bottom of the second image to help construct and send your letter or video. The District is encouraging not only parents but current students and alumni to speak up.

Please reach out to Mr. Diaz or Mr. Ficarra if you have any further questions and thank you for your continued support of the JagBand Program!
