Here Are Your Top 10 Reasons to Attend Hive to Glass
1. Honey – we will have fresh 2023 Bee Girl Honey for sale! We have a special (larger sized) jar that will only be available at Hive to Glass, and you won’t be able to pick it up at our retail partners this year.
2. Music – Local superstars, The Brothers Reed, will be jamming out all night for you!! Before they take the stage, you will get to enjoy a SUPER fun playlist of diva dance beats that I put together just for Hive to Glass.
3. Food – Chef Kristen’s team at Jefferson Farm Kitchen is putting together some delicious food for you. I just handed Kristen a giant jar of honey to craft your dinner with, and they are pulling food from the shelves of our local co-ops and farm shops as we speak – just for you!!
4. Swag bags – I love sharing my favorite things with you from our sponsors and partners. Get excited about this year’s gift bag, featuring conscious and honey-themed presents from us to you from.
5. Gallery – We’ll be spread out all over the Gambrel Gallery estate, but be sure to take a spin around the gallery. Check out the “Bee Habitat in Cyanotype” art, which includes a story for each piece telling the origin story of the components featured in the frame (descriptions of the flowers and bees, where they came from, and the relationship BGO has with the landowner who stewards them).
6. Cocktails & nonalcoholic beverages – our bar will be stocked, and our bartenders ready to serve you Bee Girl Honey craft cocktails. I’m currently making foraged sage and laurel honey syrups and testing recipes for my twist on the Barr Hill Bees Knees. We’ll also have not one but TWO spirit free cocktails from For Bitter or Worse (Bonus: when you post a picture of your cocktail, and tag Barr Hill will plant 10 sq/ft of pollinator habitat for you!!)
7. Wine – We’ll have quite a selection of wine this year from Trisaetum and Grandeur. Our friend, Ryan, is coming up from Cali to pour wine and talk with you about BGO and Grandeur’s special collaboration.
8. Van – I’ll pull the van right up onto the lawn outside of Gambrell Gallery and fling the doors wide open so our guests can come hang in the van, enjoy a cocktail, and chat with me about field season!
9. Auction – After taking a hiatus, the epic BGO Silent Auction is BACK!! The generosity from our silent auction sponsors this year is completely overwhelming. We have some fantastic lots for you that feature businesses that are conscious, sustainably made, female founded, and/or locally made. Many of them are B Corps and/or 1% for the Planet partners.
10. Learn about our projects that you are supporting by attending the event – thank you to our sponsors, 100% of ticket, drink, honey, and merch sales will go directly to our work. We work hard to establish and conserve bee habitat around the West through research, art, and education – partnering with farmers, ranchers, and vineyard managers who deeply care.
BGO’s work is beautifully grueling.
Our small team puts in incredibly long, hard days.
We have to do it, because we love bees and we want them to survive. We believe diverse bee habitat is a solution to climate change. Our data-informed collaborations have shown us -- when done right, building and preserving habitat for our bees can build soil, restore carbon and water cycles, create wildfire resilience, and regenerate fauna diversity. From bees to bison and everything in between, we’re all better off when we blanket the earth with flowers.
