Lately we’ve been having our couples take mirror selfies of themselves with our giant film camera. The photos don’t always come out perfect, sometimes they’re blurry, out of focus, the framing is off, but that’s kind of the point of it. It’s a cool memory from the day, that they can always look back on.

It’s been close to 10 years and we still can’t believe this is what we get to do for a living. Shout out to all the couples, past and future, who allow us into their lives to document these amazing moments. To say we’re privileged to have this opportunity is an understatement. Literally could not ask for a better job.

When Savanah emailed us that she and John were making their own wedding bands and wanted us to document it for their engagement session, we literally responded “WE LOVE IT WE LOVE IT!”.

While a traditional engagement session is great, we absolutely love the idea of documenting an experience, especially when it’s something as unique as this, creating the rings that symbolize your love, the rings that you will be wearing for the rest of your lives.

Stuff like this really makes us realize how cool our jobs are.

Shout out to Janeane for allowing us to be there to document this.

Family portraits can be... relaxed. joyful. authentic. And true to life.
We can hold space for the beautiful and the raw.
•there is room to be genuinely ourselves,
• to allow newborns and toddlers to be free to release anxieties and emotions, and move through the ebbs and flows of their feelings.
•There is enough room in your family photos to take a few breaths. Center what matters most.
• Like poetry, families rarely fit well into tight boxes.
Instead they do their best when they are allowed to be free and genuinely themselves.
Hopefully you’re still in time to find and experience some fall colors. And some chilly fall sunlight.

Sam and Ben wanted to do something different for their engagement session, so we took a stroll through their neighborhood. The first stop was the park where Ben proposed, after a quick dance under the trees we headed for , one of their regular stops. After a plate of fries, a shake, and a few John Hughes inspired photos, we grabbed some ice cream at before calling it a night.

A wedding veil is a dramatic statement spoken softly. It tends to create its own micro-world. Set aside with purpose from the cheerful crowd. In its translucent tenderness it softens, not just from the outside in, but from under the wedding veil out.

“Let me take you on a trip to the Land of Spices”
India is a land of color in every aspect. It’s in the Indian weddings, it’s in the Indian food, Indian markets, but most of all the Indian spirit. It is a land of contrasts. And the one thing that definitely never lacks color is the Indian soul. Full of life and full of vigor, from the mansions to the slums Indian people are united in the spirit of perseverance. India takes a shot at all five senses and she never misses. These are just a few of our film shots from one of the most incredible adventures we’ve been on.

THE REAL TRUTH about taking chances.
“Fear is the mind k*ller”…/ Dune

-in the realm of wedding photography and the photography world at large we often see a manicured reality(which sometimes has its place). Photographers and clients alike sometimes get caught up in perfectionism (understandable) but it sometimes grows to eventually overshadow all sense of adventure(or reality).
-It builds dams in our creative rivers. Makes photographer and client fearful of the shutter and traps us in the realm of “just right”.

•BUT if we remember that fear is the opposite of curiosity, the narrative changes to “what if” in a positive way.

•we get to enjoying the moment and we take our shot.

•we fill our shoes with sand, get a mouthful of dirt while at it and take the shots that are in-front of us.

•taking chances and just pressing the shutter won’t always work out, but what if it does?!!!

•for people who are camera shy: we aren’t here for perfect. We are here for YOU. And in our lens eye, you’re already pretty perfect as you are.

*featuring two wind-swept girls with “sticky messy hair”, dresses they weren’t 100% happy about, sand “in every pore,” and extreme anxiety about the next couple days as one was embarking on a pretty dangerous adventure full of nerves.

This year I (Ben) have been second shooting a bit more, it’s really given me a chance to see wedding days from a different perspective, figuratively and literally. It’s also cool to hang with some awesome photography friends, shout out to for bringing me along on this one.
