Anticipation and excitement are higher than ever as country radio station 100.9FM WBDC has announced the contestants for the 42nd Annual WBDC Country Showdown presented by Mercy Urgent Care. It will be held at the Jasper Arts Center on Friday, June 7th at 6:30pm EST. The country music talent search gives local talent the chance to win over $1,000 in cash and prizes. Twelve acts from across the region are performing this year, with a few returning and some making their Showdown debut. The contestants taking the stage this year are:

WBDC is thrilled that No Fences: The Ultimate Garth Brooks Tribute will be entertaining the crowd and backing the talented contestants as our house band. Tickets are available for purchase for $15 at the WBDC Studios at 458 3rd Avenue in Jasper during normal business hours. $2 of every ticket sold will go directly to the local non-profit organization, TRI-CAP.

Now in its 42nd year, the WBDC Country Showdown continues to showcase this region's talent, celebrate country music, and provide a family friendly event that gives back to our communities. From the first winners, “Crossfire” in 1982, to last year’s winner, “Tony Patrick”, the WBDC Country Showdown has proved to be a must-see event for country music fans of all ages.

One of Southern Indiana’s longest-running country music talent searches returns to the Jasper Arts Center in Jasper, Indiana with some new changes. Radio station 101 Country WBDC continues to host the local showdown, now in its 42nd year, but popular demand has moved the show to the weekend. The WBDC Country Showdown presented by Mercy Urgent Care will be held on Friday, June 7th, 2024.

Now is the time for acts from around the region to enter and compete for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. This year’s winner will walk away with a $1000 cash prize, the first runner-up receives $250, and $100 goes to the third place. The top three finishers along with a People's Choice winner are presented with a beautiful, engraved trophy as well. Entries are currently being accepted by WBDC until March 29th, 2024.

Open to vocal and/or instrumental performers of country music, the WBDC Country Showdown welcomes individual acts or groups to compete. Entry forms and details for this year’s showdown are available online at www.wbdc.us or may be picked up at the WBDC Studios at 458 Third Avenue in Jasper, Indiana. This year’s entry fee is $30, and the deadline for entry is Friday, March 29th at 4pm. Performances are limited to 10 minutes and to ensure fairness, a uniform judging system is used.
