Just a heads up. Since I am not currently doing sessions for the public and am only doing private shooting requests, I will be disabling my galleries. The gallery itself will be online if you have a private gallery, but many of the public galleries may not be accessible anymore. This is the time to make sure you have backups downloaded in a safe place.

When the horse is swiveling around like it's on the top of a pole, so you just tell the client (sponsored rider Lexie Orchosky) to "look whatever way your horse is pointing and smile", you end up with photos like these. LOL!

Hey guys, sorry that I have been a little MIA. I had to drive my dog to the uni 3 hours away for surgery. He’s having his CT today and surgery tomorrow, then we’ll head home the next day. If anyone has any extra prayers, Ollie would appreciate them. Obligatory cute puppy photo attached even though he’s a bit older and bigger than that now. . Thank you for your understanding.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who took a moment to share their stories and photos. I am in shock that so many people saw the post and felt the need to share. Shaeli is so young, just a teen still, and I know that she is overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from you all. The loss of a cherished friend makes us all a part of a club that no one really wants to be a member of but one that also gives you comfort in knowing there are others who understand what you are going through.

When Shaeli first messaged me about VV she said “you took the first photos of us together and I feel like it’s only right for you to take the last photos of us together.”. If you knew Shaeli you would know that that’s a very Shaeli thing to say and do. It was her idea to take photos of her cutting VV’s tail. She simply said, “I want the last photo we take to be of me cutting her tail”.

There wasn’t a dry eye on the farm.

I was worried that the photos might cheapen the moment, but I feel like we did VV proud in the end.

I will be posting more photos from this shoot along with Shaeli and VV’s story a little later. VV qualified Shaeli for Vegas again this year and I know that if Shaeli can find a horse to run out there, VV will be watching over them.

If you know, you know...

The Best Horses in Heaven, They Have No Tail

The best horses in Heaven
they have no tail.
This is a rule they all know
without fail.
For when a new horse arrives
with a short cut bob,
they all know that this horse
did a very good job.

His owner could not bear
to part with her friend
so she saved his tail,
wrapped in ribbons
and in braids,
to hold with his memory
in a very loving way.

To enter Heaven
without a tail
is an honor,
a message,
that without fail
announces to everyone,
far and wide
that this horse
was more than a wonderful ride.

But
this horse was loved and cherished by one
and when his time serving on this Earth was done
he left behind
a broken heart
and a soul
from which he never will part.
