Come out tomorrow and support Women of Jefferson Organization Salad Lunch. 11:00-1:00 at First Baptist Church, 523 N Polk, Jefferson, TX. Eat in or take out, until food is gone. You get five salads for $12. Here I am making the 1933 Study Club's Old-Fashioned Chicken Salad. The hardest part was peeling the d*mn eggs! Every man, woman and child needs to know their fractions to cook from recipes. I had to make the recipe x four. So what is 3/4 cup x 4? The proceeds of this event support scholarships for graduating high school, continuing college students and women advancing their career in the workplace. PLEASE SUPPORT. Francene "Moto Mama".

Dear Business Owner, Managers and staff:

The 5th Annual Jefferson Antique Tractor Show will be held on September 16, 2023. We had a great event last year and are expecting 50-80 tractors this year. This event brings almost 1000 tourists to Jefferson. For tourist-related businesses, please read this entire letter as there is a call to action.

Friday, September 15, 2023 Schedule:

11:00 – 8:00 PM – exhibitor registration and set up, Austin Street

Saturday, September 16, 2023 Schedule:

7:00 – 10:00 AM exhibitor registration and set up, Austin Street

11:00 Tractor Slow Race, Walnut Street

1:00 PM Tractor Parade, see Green Line on map above for parade route

1:45 PM Awards Presentation

We do our best to accommodate early registration combined with street closures that allow Jefferson Businesses to have access for Friday parking for their visitors. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in noting the street closed barricades.

We will reopen the streets after the show ends, as soon as all of the tractors are loaded onto their trailers and have departed Jefferson. This is usually by 4:00 PM on Saturday. Once registration closes at 10:00 on Saturday morning, we will open any streets not filled with our participants.

For tourist-related businesses:

This event is free to the exhibitors and to the public. Annual Tractor Show expenses are $2000 for trophies, insurance and advertising. Special thank you to the Jefferson Businesses who supported this event. Expenses not covered by donations were underwritten last year by event promoters, Francene & Diamond Don Rainey. We have received generous contributions from business owners in the past and hope that you will open your pocketbook and send Diamond Don Motorsports a check to help offset expenses. Send $10, $50, $100, $500 – any amount will help. Our goal this year is $4000 to cover expenses for 2023 and for start-up money for 2024, to assure this event will continue next year. We will accept donations through Friday, September 22. We will acknowledge all of our sponsors on Facebook once donation period expires and will have a special thank you ad in the Jimplecute.

PLEASE SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR THIS GREAT EVENT. Let us hear from you!!!!! Make your check payable to Diamond Don Motorsports and mail to PO Box 240, Jefferson, TX 75657 – or put it in the mailbox at Jefferson Railway, 400 E. Austin. We can also send you a PayPal invoice.

With the excessive heat this year, we know that Jefferson businesses are suffering. If you cannot make a monetary donation, please consider giving a gift certificate or something from your store for our door prize drawing for tractor exhibitors. Melissa will be at registration table on the vacant lot by General Store on Friday, 11:00 – 8:00; and on Saturday from 7:00 – 1:45 PM. Door prize drawing will begin at 1:45.

If you have already donated, THANK YOU.

Thanks, everyone, for your support and a special Thank You to our volunteers that helped make this event successful.

Come ride the Easter Egg Express, an antique narrow gauge gas-powered train, along the scenic Big Cypress Bayou, on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at 12:30 and 2:30. Enjoy the excellent view of the wetlands, piney woods and wildlife along the river in the open-canopied observation cars.

The Historic Jefferson Railway will also offer a FREE Easter Egg Hunt for ticket holders under 10, after each train returns.

The train ride includes a stop at the Diamond Don Gator Pit for feeding of the live alligators out basking in the sun for that great photo op.

As you roll through the history laden Piney Woods, you’ll view a Confederate Powder Magazine and traverse the site of one of the oldest, historical towns in Texas, with historical ruins from the 1800’s. Learn about the unique ecology of the area and hear a tale or two about Bigfoot.

The train rolls right by the home of the Boggy Creek monster as depicted in the horror movie, “Boggy Creek”, filmed in Jefferson and Uncertain. The movie is loosely based on the old Big Foot or Sasquatch legends, says Brian T. Jaynes, director and producer.

Bring your RV or tent camp at Diamond Don RV Park, just a short one mile from Jefferson, on the Big Cypress Bayou, keeping you close to the action. Beautiful wooded sites with lots of wildlife. Many of the RV sites have views of the Big Cypress Bayou. Free WIFI, showers, rest rooms and dump station. Launch your kayak or canoe right from the park. Enjoy fishing off the banks of the river. www.DiamondDonRVPark.com

You can make reservations by text to 903-742-2041 or email to [email protected]. Your tickets are guaranteed once you receive confirmation.
