Venue, coordinators, and wedding planners… They are not the same thing! I heard so many times at the wedding show this weekend that the client didn’t need a wedding planner because the venue came with one.
Venue coordinators are amazing, necessary, and so helpful. However, they are not wedding planners.
It is not your venue coordinator’s responsibility to:
1) create your timeline
2) handle vendor, coordination, load in and arrival times
3) help you with your seating chart, welcome sign, or any other decor
4) help you create your process order as well as your ceremony seating for your family and closest friends
5) run your rehearsal
6) manage wedding ceremony by lining you up, cuing bridal party, when to walk, and cuing music
7) manage the flow of your evening, knowing when to start dinner, toast, special dances, cake, cutting, etc.
8) help you in the night by creating a grand exit or a special private dance
9) pack up your decor, gifts, cards, and florals at the end of the evening for you.
10) follow up after the wedding with help changing your name, changing your address, etc.
All of these things are task that WILL be handled by a wedding planner ME!,
It’s important to know the difference and not expect your venue to provide services that simply aren’t in their scope .

Wedding tip:
Give your planner a list of those people that you wish to visit with you while you are getting ready. Often times, people that mean well, but don’t really understand how busy a wedding day can be try to stop by and see the bride as she is getting hair and make up done . By giving your planner a list, she can see that your wishes are met, and tell any visitors that drop by that you can’t wait to see them later at the reception.
