As some of you know, my prep kitchen in Jewett caught fire Wednesday. While the building is a total loss, some of my equipment is not. A huge thank you to the Jewett and Marquez VFD for your prompt response and efficiency; if not for you, I would have nothing left. We are also so thankful no one was there to get hurt, and also thankful that it did not spread to the real estate office next door.

This is just a minor setback. Corby and I already have architectural plans in place to build a permanent location in Jewett and had actually started the loan process. Life kinda stopped with a recent family loss, but now we are back on track to move forward.

About 20 years ago, I had written a quote down and pinned it to Rusty’s board in his office. It read “Even if you’re on the right track, you will get ran over if you just sit there.” I had always encouraged him to expand and do more, sometimes at the bewilderment of my mother because I had even told him we should consider building a second CCBBQ. He was always on board with my crazy ideas. I have stolen a few moments of silence the last couple of days to think and pray about what we should do, and I hear two voices. Jesus has told me “Do not be afraid because it is time.” And I can hear Rusty, one of my biggest encouragers, saying “Hell yes, go for it!” ❤️

I hear you both. I’m ready to close out 2023 and welcome 2024 with all the things to come. Thank you to the amazing support this community has shown me the last few years, and I look forward to serving you on a regular and weekly basis in the near future.

The holidays are always sooo busy (and actually the last 2 years have been crazy), so I wanted to pass this along…

I have several ask every year if I’m doing anything special for the holidays. While I would love to offer this, the oilfield keeps me completely slammed as we generally have 25-30 rigs to cook and deliver to. If you are in need of anything for Thanksgiving, please call Country Cousins Barbecue & Catering in Centerville and place your order.

In 2008 I took a leap of faith and started up my own catering business. March 20th, 2008, I cooked steaks on a rig right outside Marquez for the very first time as a business owner. With 75% of businesses failing before this point, I am so happy to officially be in the 25% that can celebrate a 15-year anniversary.

Thank you soooo much to the oilfield for being my largest customer in general. I did it for you and you did NOT disappoint. Thank you to the locals who have supported me on this venture and who still call wanting BBQ (you know who you are… Kristy Vandegriff😉) and so many others.

And thank you to my partner for life, my other half, for being on this crazy ride you probably had no idea you were signing up for. Well you’re stuck now, sooo….. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love this community and the people here, and while I have been a little silent lately and I haven’t been able to have the BBQ Trailer running, I have been working every single day to bring my ultimate dream to fruition right here in Jewett.

It’s coming. And that’s going to be the biggest leap of faith I’ve had to take to date. But I’m ready. I know He would not have brought me this far only to come this far. And knowing that, I also know His plans are bigger than mine so here I am Lord.

I don't know where Wednesday got off to, but I'm not sure I had one. So posting this on Thursday instead!

Text your order in to (903) 388-9600 for faster pick up. Orders can be picked up as late as 5:00 from the kitchen in Jewett (please call if you need to get it even later), but all orders must be in by 3:00. The earlier the better to ensure availability.

One thing to note on the menu is I am no longer carrying soft drinks. Only tea, water, and lemonade for the time being. I am also scaling back on a few items and only offering them one at a time! This week it's Loaded Nachos (with brisket or pulled pork), topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, and barbecue sauce. Full and Half orders available.

Come by tomorrow 9/16 and get your BBQ fix for lunch or before the football game!

Sometimes things don’t work out the way you plan for them to. Today, the electricity decided to go off for half of Buffalo…the half that my daycare is on.

I thank Jesus for the best customers because these two are headed to B/CS to help cater for R. Construction today.

And a shout out to Brandy Mutschler who is not only headed to Nucor for me today as well, but also helped me get things together to accommodate the sudden change in plans! 👏🏻

When I quote you a price for catering, it’s not just for those few hours you see me set up at your event and serve your guests. On that scale, yeah it would seem really expensive. It’s for what you don’t see… the hours preparing beforehand, sometimes actually turning into days. I don’t wake up in the morning of your event and decide to finally get things together. By the morning of your event, I HAVE it all together. And my time dedicated to your event doesn’t end when you see me pack up and drive away. Dishes don’t clean themselves, right? I sure wish they did sometimes. 😉
