Hear ye, hear ye! We are ecstatic to have Sawyer Harris as our new entertainment director for the 2025 season of the Red Wolf Renaissance Fair.

Sawyer will be on the prowl (or should we say searching the seven seas🧜‍♀) to create an enchanting renaissance fair experience! We have no doubt with her experience flipping her fins as Mermaid Mossy, wearing the crown as queen of the Hot Springs Renaissance Fair, or performing as part of Dr. Krunkenstein and the Hillbilly Express, her enthusiasm and creativity shines through!

Spreading Holiday Cheer at Nettleton STEAM! 🎄✨

We’re still glowing from yesterday’s magical visit to Nettleton STEAM Intermediate! Alongside the Red Wolf Renaissance Fair, this has been one of our favorite moments of 2024.

With candy canes, treats, and holiday joy in tow, we shared smiles with hundreds of excited students. The highlight? Watching their faces light up when they met our knight in shining armor! 🛡️🌟

🧐 What’s on the menu for Red Wolves? Turns out, it’s a bit more complicated than just “kibble, please!”

A new study by Amy Fontaine and her team shines a light on the importance of diet and careful management for Red Wolves in human care. Researchers from North Carolina State University, the North Carolina Zoo, and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium collaborated to examine gastrointestinal (GI) disease, a major cause of mortality for Red Wolves.

The findings suggest that including a variety of meat-based items—like small prey and larger carcasses—may improve gut health and support more natural behaviors. 🐰🦌

🐺💊 Plus, evaluating each wolf’s health is encouraged before giving certain meds (like NSAIDs) to keep our Red Wolf friends feeling their best.

With 95% of the critically endangered Red Wolf population in human care, understanding and managing their diet is essential to conservation. It’s not just kibble and bits—it’s a matter of survival! 🌱

These canid pins from the Endangered Wolf Center have us absolutely swooning! ✨

Their virtual Q and A session during the opening ceremony of the first annual Red Wolf Renaissance Fair was amazing! They shared a fascinating presentation all about Red Wolves and even answered questions from the audience. The Endangered Wolf Center plays a vital role in conserving Red Wolves and caring for a captive population as part of the SAFE (Saving Animals from Extinction) program. Be sure to plan a visit to their incredible facility in Eureka, Missouri, whenever you get the chance!

One of the most incredible aspects of wolf conservation is the network of dedicated organizations partnering with state, federal, and local governments to create real change in their communities. Wolves are an incredibly misunderstood species being the target of negative stereotypes and stigmas for hundreds of years.

The truth?

🐺Wolves are a keystone species and apex predator and are an essential piece of ecosystems.

🐺Wolves help to keep ungulate populations in check while helping to curb the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease.

🐺The carcasses of their prey help to feed hundreds of other scavenger species. The carrion adds nutrients to soil.

🐺Wolves help prevent overgrazing by managing ungulate populations. This helps fragile vegetation flourish.

The wild world needs wolves.

We look forward to a future partnership with A-State to support and raise awareness for the Red Wolf; however, they were not involved with organizing our first year. We are a small committee of community members gathered by a Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation student at A-State. Our first year lays the foundation for growth! As a nonprofit incorporated in June, we expedited our planning schedule to launch the Red Wolf Renaissance Fair and to ensure it would be an inaugural event.

Every year during the third week of October, we celebrate and raise awareness for one of nature’s most iconic and integral animals – the wolf. 🌲✨

Take time this week to learn, advocate, and support conservation efforts to protect wolves, especially the critically endangered Red Wolf. 🌍❤️

The final numbers are in! We raised $12,424 for the proposed American Red Wolf Conservation and Research Center at Craighead Forest Park or for a Red Wolf-affiliated nonprofit. Thank you all for your support and for visiting us during our first year.

We would like to recognize Jonesboro Parks and Recreation, Memphis Armored Fight Club, Glibal Risk Office, LLC., and the Jonesboro A and P Commission for their partnership to make this first year amazing.

Additionally, we cannot forget our cast members from Arkansas Renaissance Festival and our volunteers. We couldn't have had better people to guide us in creating a renaissance fair experience in Jonesboro.

One day we would love to take over ALL of Craighead Forest Park with Arkansas Revelry for Red Wolf Recovery. We cannot wait to see you all next year!
