We’ve been nominated as Filmmaker of the Year, as well as having nominations for Film of the Year, Best Social Edit, and People’s Choice. Last week was our five year wedding anniversary, which means it’s also been five years since we had the idea to start filming weddings! We were on our honeymoon when we first thought about making wedding films. A few months later, at the end of a lengthy quest to settle on the right name for our fledgling business, we started The Quail & The Dove and the rest is history!

We celebrated our anniversary last week with a trip to Big Sur. Now we’re refreshed and ready to get back to shooting!

We love to shoot on our vintage Canon Super 8 camera! It shoots 2.5 minutes of 8mm film per roll, so we have to be selective with the shots — always a good challenge. If couples choose Super 8 for their wedding day, we cut the 8mm film footage with the digital video footage from the day, which gives a fun, nostalgic feel to the film. We also give them a digital copy of the full 2.5 minutes of the Super 8 film.

You can add Super 8mm onto any of our film packages. We have a lot of weddings this year coming up with Super 8 coverage, so you’ll be seeing some of it on here soon!

Filmmakers! We’ve got some extra time this spring and wanted to do something to support the wedding filmmaking community!

We are giving away 5 free video-chat mentor sessions to filmmakers who feel they have a specific area they'd like to improve in — working with the couple on the wedding day, storytelling, music selection, color correction and grading, audio capture and post, etc.

We’ve partnered up with Love Stories TV for this giveaway to reach more of the wedding filmmaking community — if you don’t have a channel on LoveStoriesTV.com, it’s free to create and a great way to get your films seen.

Here's how to enter for a chance to be selected for one of the five mentor sessions:

1. Have at least 3 films uploaded and public on your Love Stories TV channel so we can get a sense of your work.

2. Send an email to [email protected] with a link to your lovestoriestv.com channel and a brief description one or two areas in which you're looking to improve. Deadline to submit your channel is May 14th, 2020.

3. We'll choose 5 filmmakers based on who we think we can be most effective in helping, based on their work and the areas in which they hope to improve.

4. With each chosen filmmaker, we'll arrange a 45 minute video chat session and optional follow-up call.

Dani and Sam are a very upbeat, energetic and fun couple and that really came out during the day. But we also shot a lot of beautiful, moody footage of the couple and the venue.
