They are truly blown away by the loveliness of the greater Joshua Tree residents they encounter at the fest, or in town. The whimsical, wild, and wonderful. High desert folks that are real good at just being themselves. Refreshingly real💜

Kids of all ages abound at the Joshua Tree Music Festival. We go to great lengths to make it safe & fun for the whole fam here; Kidsville is action-packed, shaded, and centrally located 🧡

Then there's our septua & octagenarian friends who populate the dancefloor, soaking up the outrageous goodness like it was their first show, grinning ear to ear 🧡

From time to time, I'll hear from someone, ''I'm too old for music festivals". Translation: I no longer care to wait in long lines, endure huge crowds, pay heaps of hard earned monies to not see the stage, or hike miles to and from camp. You want to find your friends and visit with folks, not race from stage to stage. Size does matter 🧡

PEOPLE helping PEOPLE.

One of my favorite people on the planet, the bright shiny light that is Susie Lawing (pictured below in comments), lost everything in the Park Fire. We first met at High Sierra Music Festival 25 years ago (and nearly every year since), and w/in moments she'd invited us to come stay at her home, aka the Enchanted Ridge, anytime, with she and her family (Theresa Markwood). And we did. The place was soaked in love and positive intention and familial vibes.

Susie and two others are now displaced, and the real kicker - fire insurance was too costly to afford. So blessings massive and a big UPS to anyone who is able to donate, even just a little.

We are honored to host the Tanfis II Palestine/Gaza benefit tour at the Joshua Tree Music Festival in October. Tanfis II is a transformative multimedia live experience featuring 17 artists (traditional musicians, remix artists, DJs, storytellers) from the Palestinian, Syrian, Lebanese, and Iraqi diasporas. This tour aims to positively shift the cultural consciousness needed to break the cycle of fear and violence by uniting us through Levantine music, remix, and storytelling, while fundraising critical emergency relief for Gaza/Palestine 💜💜💜

TRUE STORY
When I first came to Joshua Tree, with the dream of starting up the Joshua Tree Music Festival, a handful of complete strangers helped make it all happen. For nothing in return but the promise of some future fun, they came out to build stages in the hot sun. Trippy Sieleman did the work of many, spending scores of hours building (and entertaining us all). I'm eternally grateful for all that he's done for me. You may know him for his mad skilz on the rocks, building, in the mountains, or on the dance floor. He leans in to IT like nobodies business. But what impresses me the most, is the way he pours on the love and work and dedication in to being the very best Papa he can possibly be. Mad props to you, brother 💜

"We don't go to music festivals - but we come to this one !"

I hear this from dozens of folks at every Joshua Tree Music Festival. Here's what i think they mean:

You love a live music experience, but not the maddening crowds. You'd prefer to see the performers eyes, not watch them on the Jumbotron 75 yards from the stage. If you go camping for the weekend, you want to bring your whole family and know that everyone will have fun and be safe. You love connecting on a deeper level with folks, but not keen on paying lots of hard earned coin to jostle through crowds. You're not a fan of long lines. You want to drive away rejuvenated, not depleted. To feel nourished. Time is precious; you want your weekend to be a rich experience ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
