He explains what the leis mean to the Hawaiian people, how the leis are fragile and will be gone in a few days. Your love is everlasting and to treat it with care and consideration. Then the minister hands one partner a lei to place over the other's head, and then a second lei following same format. This adds an additional bit of Hawaiian energy to your ceremony. The lei ceremony is a popular option, but is not required.
