What’s your idea of the perfect way to celebrate your wedding? For some it’s breakfast in bed, for others it’s an early departure to their honeymoon. For these lovelies, it was a day spent hiking, popping a bottle of champagne and enjoying some of their favorite places on Oahu and I think that’s pretty perfect.

It’s a big week! I officially entered my “mid” and some may say mid/late thirties and started an epic cross country road trip with my husband (we’re on day 5/32). To avoid bad weather we’re heading to Tennessee then on to Texas and the Southwest. Drop your favorite hikes, eateries, small businesses and iconic roadside attractions!

It’s Hispanic Heritage Month! Did you know that Hispanics are wildly underrepresented in media, STEM, film, the arts and yes, even the wedding industry.

As a little kid growing up in South Brooklyn, there weren’t too many kids that looked like me (most of our neighbors were Italian) and I often got asked the favorite question: “What are you?” Rather than embracing my culture, it caused me to be embarrassed of my heritage and it took many years for me to fully appreciate and accept myself just the way I am.

Even as an adult, it’s sometimes uncomfortable being one of the few Hispanics in a very white industry but I’m grateful that there are more conversations about inclusivity to make the wedding industry a place where people of all races feel seen and represented.

We kicked off the summer with a beautiful summer solstice wedding. It was a joyful and intimate celebration full of lots of love and laughter.

Golden hour during sunset was especially gorgeous for Lauren & Martell’s beachside wedding. Their wedding was intimate, romantic and full of heartfelt sentiments from their nearest and dearest. It was especially close to my heart as this was my first official wedding in Hawaii and I am so excited to continue to help couples tie the knot on a beautiful island full of history and a rich local culture.

It was such an honor to be part of their special day and am so excited for them as they embark on their next adventure. Mahalo!
