How do you clean the teeth of an elephant?
JK, that’s not the saying. It’s how do you eat an elephant? (One bite at a time). A saying that my business partner/mom (@marg.geiger ) and I have used a lot since buying the building.
This task has been especially challenging. (note the actual dental tool and allllllll that floor..)
But the way I see it... if you’re going to pour your whole heart and soul into something. Pour it all. Right down into the cracks of the floors.

We are in a moment in history where time is not money. Time is just time.
I am a substitute teacher in the Kalama School District, I am a third owner of an event space, I teach yoga (@deborahjoyyoga ) and I run an Air BnB. All of those things are paused right now, and the state does not currently recognize me as a candidate for unemployment—as I haven’t “worked enough hours” (according to the automated application system.) I currently have no income, so time cannot possibly be the equivalent of money.
I am fortunate enough to have a reliable and comfortable place to sleep, and plenty of food to eat. All there is for me to do is the work in front of me. Not to rush through to get to the end, not to appease some external obligation. Maybe not even to “enjoy the process,” as people often tell you to do. (Many processes you do not enjoy, but you do them anyway— right healthcare workers? Grocery store employees and those driving to keep our shelves stocked?) THANK YOU for doing the work.
My work at the moment may not be imperative to the wellbeing of others, but it is still the work that I have in front of me to do. I am free of the need to rush. I am just doing my best.
