Friday night life update - live from my bed 😅

Hi to you all! I promised an update & life chat so here we go. Brace yourself.

If you haven’t noticed courtneyleefilms aka this account went from posting all the time to an absolute ghost town. (Happy October👻) Last October I had my sweet baby girl. Navigating postpartum for the first time while in the busiest part of editing season was hard on me and my business. I had to take things out of the equation in order to meet deadlines and keep myself above the water. Posting on socials was definitely the first to go. While I did miss it, I knew my attention was where it needed to be.

April of this year, I had the amazing honor of shooting my dear friend’s wedding in Tennessee. (ILY Jdog) it’s only fitting that this post is of her beautiful self and her amazing husband. Tennessee did not go how I had planned. What I thought would be an amazing and fun weekend celebrating my friend getting hitched, turned into a whole lot of “I’m unwell”. I found myself SO sick all of Jaeden’s wedding day. It was so bad that I slept the entire way from Cades Cove to the reception dinner & even had to leave early because I was so weak. It’s not a matter of what caused this but who. The little nugget in my tummy. That’s right. I was pregnant again! I can’t wait to tell this little girl one day that she made me miss most of auntie Jaeden’s wedding day. (But she’s worth it of course)

I was so ready to take 2024 wedding season by storm. By this point I had learned how to kinda sort of be a mom and run a business. At least most of the time. But once again I was unwellllll. I’ve still managed to kill it this season and I’m so grateful that my plate is full.

With that, if you have inquired with me you may already know that I have decided not to book any weddings for 2025. I started Courtney Lee Films as a wedding videographer. Over the years I’ve dipped my toes in much more, but that has always been my main service. Lakelynn turns one this month and I can truly say that in one year of being a mom & a wedding videographer that I can’t do both. Videography is something I have so much passion for, but it requires a lot of attention and time. I’m simply stepping back because it is so unfair of me to take on work that I can’t put my whole heart into at this time. I have to be selfless and consider what I would want from my wedding experience. With that this is hopefully just goodbye for now. I don’t plan to quit posting, photographing, or being creative in my craft.

Whats next then? We are expecting baby girls arrival in January and I can’t wait to be home with both girls soaking up all the baby snuggles. While this business is my job, it has been the best escape and creative outlet for me when I needed it most. Long days of being a mom it feels so good to just socialize and have fun with my camera. I fully intend to step out and do more creative sessions & fun projects! I will still be posting weddings and content from the past few seasons to showcase all the incredible things that have came out of my videography journey.

Thank you all who have supported me constantly. Even with the directional change I’m happy to continue this journey with you all!

For now I’m here to announce fall minis 📸 These sessions will be on the farm. This years vibes are open field, lots of pumpkins & hopefully fall colored leaves. I’ll have a few things as a “set up” but we will also be using the open field. I’m very excited for these because I’m feeling fall more than ever this year. I haven’t posted since August 30th🫢 You know it’s bad when your mom texts you and tells you that you need to post. 😂

How do you say life has been busy and you’re having trouble keeping up without sounding ungrateful? Because that’s how I feel.

If you don’t know, in October I gave birth to the sweetest angel, my Lakelynn. (You’ll see more of her on stories) Between learning to be a mom, trying to run a business, and still just life I would say I’m doing pretty good.

Since it’s a whole new year, hello 2024 I know I’m late to the party 👏🏼 I won’t dwell on all the struggles of motherhood, or what could have been better overall. Instead I choose to remember that 2023 brought me Lakelynn and that’s all that matters.

Now what I will not be leaving in 2023 is all the amazing content I created. You’ll probably be seeing that until 2025 because you would 💩 your pants if you saw how much I did this year that I have not shared. I shot my first out of state wedding. My first destination wedding AND my first over seas wedding all in one year.

While I have so much to share & a lot on the books, I will be taking things slower. I’m fortunate enough to spend every day with Lakelynn and I don’t want to take that for granted.

The next week will be dedicated to wrapping up all of 2023 editing, answering all emails & inquiries, and preparing for a great year. Thank you for giving me grace when I needed it. Goodbye 2023, it truly was my best year yet.
