After the Magic Flea Market in Muncie, I was on my way home when I noticed a sign for my favorite Fudge Facrory. It is in Anderson Indiana and is called, The Uranus Fudge Factory & General Store. They have 80 plus flavors of taffy, candy made from bugs, the best fudge (18 flavors), and T-shirts from the Uranus Police Department or the Uranus Space Force? It is a fun place to stop and shop.

They also have decks of playing cards that say, "I ❀️ Uranus". Being a playing card deck collector, I had to have one. I also bought seven different flavors of Fudge. One each for each of my Kalamazoo family.

Their signage inside and outside is both unique and hilarious. Most of the signs were Uranus, space, or alien themed. However, it was the "NOTICE" sign that most amused me.πŸ˜†πŸ˜…πŸ˜†

If you are ever in Anderson Indiana, do yourself a favor and visit their store.

Just a few notes from the Rabbit>>>
We will be closed July 31 - Aug. 3 to go to Colon, MI for the Abbott's Magic Get-Together.
If you love magic, please come by and enjoy the people of this great little town and, of course the Magicians that come from all over just to enjoy the art of magic and share some secrets. There are evening shows that are open to the public, so you can see some real great magic each night or just wander the streets, restaurants and the gathering places.

Antony and I will be manning our tent on Dallas Street. Antony will demonstrate magic that he has created and we will have other magician props for sale as well.

Just behind our tent will be Rex and Randy. They have so much to offer to the beginners to the professionals.

Jim and Michele from Grand Rapids will also be selling a lot of magic from their collection.

Lots to see and do. For the non magicians, the town always has LOTS of yard sales especially on Friday and Saturday and The Library usually has a book sale.

Hope to see you there.

Balltown Iowa was to be my last stop on this adventure before heading back to Michigan. However, it was not to be.πŸ™„

I feel that this stop need a little background story. While on my was to my first stop in Long Grove Illinois, I missed hitting a Coyote by inches. Then, and while on my way to my second stop in Watertown Wisconsin, an Opossum ran under the back tires of our car. He did not make it.

Next, and in Montana, a rabbit copied what the opossum had done. Both ran under my back tires so there was no way I could avoid hitting them. Then, and also in Montana, I nearly hit a Badger running across the road.

Next came the Pronghorn antelope who thought the middle of the highway was a good place to take a rest.πŸ€” Luckily I missed it and he survived. Then in British Columbia Canada a Black Bear ran across the road in front of me. I missed hitting it by a few feet.

Yukon Territory Canada was a real challenge. With Black Bear, Bison, Deer, Mountain Sheep, and an assortment of other furry critters all wanting to ger a close look at the underside of my SUV. Lucky for them, I have good eyes and reflexes. And Lucky for me, the Moose opted to cross the road behind us.

There also seemed to be a lot of suicidal birds flying towards my vehicle as if it were a bird magnet. One was a White Owl which missed our windshield by a foot or two.

Yellowstone was another challenge section. Several Deer challenged my drivingskills and two Elk. Then there was the Grizzly that crossed the road right in front of me. I am glad that he ran. If he had been walking, I would likely have hit him. WOW!

Above I said, "Balltown Iowa was to be my last stop on this adventure before heading back to Michigan. However, it was not to be.πŸ™„" Well, it was on the road to Souix Falls South Dakota. There were do many Deer crossing the road, I had to hold onto the steering wheel for DEER-life. Again Lucky for me and for them, I have good eyes. I could see their eyes from a long distance away.

I kept straining my eye on the road ahead when a semi truck started to pass me in the passing lane. Apparently 75 MPH in a 75 MPH zone was not fast enough. The trucks tractor had just passed me when an animal ran into my lane from in front of the truck.

I could not get my foot to the break before hitting it. WhenI saw the size and shape of the thing, I thought Wolvering. I immediately pulled to the side of the highway to inspect the damage. Luckily the only damage was a small piece of trim broken off. However, the check engine light was also now on.

We called the rental company who told us to drive on to Souix Falls get a motel.and they would exchange vehicles the next day.

I had to know what I hit so I walked back to see. I was really worried that it was a Wolvering. When I got to it I still was not sure what it was. The body and tail were dark gray/black. Not the mixed browns that I expected to see. It was not until I looked at it's face that I realized it was not a Wolverine. It had a black mask. It was the largest Raccoon that I have ever seen and it's body and tail were dark gray/black. So strange!

The next day, and after getting the new car, it took us over an hour to unload and reload all our products from the convention and the stuff that we bought and found. Then finally we were off on the final leg of this adventure. Off to Breitbach's Country Dining. Iowa's oldest bar.

The atmosphere, service food, and drinks were good. And as a bonus, there was a small antique shop on the property.

Next stop, Kalamazoo Michigan- Home. Not to rest, but to get ready for the next adventure, Camp Colon. If you know, you know.

Stay well and stay safe my friends

PS, I hope that you enjoyed my adventure, stories, and pictures. PLUS, I hope that you will join me on my next adventures.

After my last hike in the mountains near Mount Rushmore it was time to head for Deadwood South Dakota and the oldest bar in South Dakota, The Buffalo Bodega Bar.

The city of Deadwood was anything but dead. The town was warning with people. It was reminiscent of Las Vegas in the late 1960's through early 1970's. With LOTS of stores, saloons and casinos, it was like one big party. There was even a gun fight in the street. Staged of course.

Incidentally, the people, atmosphere, service, food, and drink were exceptional.

It was a fun time and one which I plan to relive. Put this town on your bucket list!

I found several of these cards while organizing my collection. Not only do I not know what effect they belong to, but I do not know when I got them.

They are all Ace-of-Diamonds and are approximately five inches wide by seven and a half inches long and about a sixteenth of an inch thick. Printed on each card it says, "Abbott's Magic Novelty Co."

Please let me know if you know what effect these cards go to. I have ten of these cards. I suspect that only one cards goes with the effect t which it was created for.

Thank you

I have been so busy with sales and sessions at the FFFF Convention, that I have not shared anything. On the first night, I turned in early, about 3:00 AM (Wednesday night). Thursday was the late night with turn in time at 5:00 AM. Last night, Friday, the lack of sleep hit me. I turned in at 4:00 AM. Tonight, may be an all nighter?πŸ€” As for tomorrow, Sunday, well time will tell.

It has been a blast so far❣️I met and sessioned with many old friends. Plus, I made MANY new friends. As always it has been a great convention.

Tomorrow, April 11th, is the opening day of The Gateway Close-Up Convention in Collinsville Illinois, about 15 miles east of Saint Louis. The dates are, April 11th through 13th, 2024.

You will not regret it if you attend this event. Just check out the performers and lecturers scheduled. There are some great names on the schedule and I am proud to be one of the performer / lecturers.

I will be the opening act on the Friday Close-Up show. Right after the Close-Up show, I will start my lecture, Magic Behind Bars. My Magic Behind Bars lecture features my Idiosyncratic Classic Force. This lecture focuses on playing cards, however, I will also share several coin ideas, and a Billiard Ball move.

I offer my Magic Behind Bars lecture as a standard two and a half hour lecture (2 1/2 hour), or as my marathon lecture which could be anywhere from 5 to 11 hours. The Gateway Close-Up Convention opted for my marathon lecture so bring a pot of coffee and get ready for some serious fun.

I look forward to seeing you soon

I just finished packing up my dealer booth at the Michigan Magic Day convention in Vicksburg Michigan. I sold a LOT of my creations and was asked to do a lecture at two of Michigan's magic clubs.

I love my job❣️

Well, this is not how I planned my trip to Pigeon Forge Tennessee for my lecture at the Winter Carnival of Magic.

A 123 miles on the road and got a flat tire.🀨 Luckily we have road service and are now at the service station getting not one, but all of the tires replaced.πŸ₯΄πŸ€―😑😀

Glad that I decided to leave a day early. Instead of arriving in Pigeon Forge at 4:30 PM, it will be more like 9:00 PM.

03/02/2024

I was just asked to be the opening lecturer for the 2024 Winter Carnival of Magic in Pigeon Forge Tennessee on March 7th. Incidentally, this will be the 49th annual Winter Carnival of Magic.

My lecture, "A Medley of Magical Mysteries" will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM and it will be the first event of the convention.

"A Medley of Magical Mysteries" is my newest lecture and this will be my first time performing it. It is a compilation, a medley, of seven effects culled from seven of my different book/lecture notes. Being a card guy, there will of course be card effects performed and taught. However, I will also share some coin and sponge ball ideas.

I will also have a dealer booth in the dealer room and will have several new items available.

I look forward to sharing my art, my ideas, and my passion with you soon.

Please also take a moment to view the Winter Carnival of Magic Facebook and web pages. The lineup this year is impressive and at a reasonable cost!

See you soon

I had a GRRRRRRRRRREAT late night session last night through early morning at the 2024 Magi-FestConvention in Columbus Ohio. I finally turned in at 6:00 AM. I could have gone longer, however, I had to get in at least two to three hours of sleep before driving home.

Most of my sessions involved me demonstrating, sharing, and teaching my creations. Plus, I was asked by several to critique their performance. It was a blast.

Thank you all for your friendship, support, and company. You made this an exceptional convention. Plus, I look forward to seeing many of you at some of the upcoming 2024 magic events. And do not forget about The Gateway Close-Up Convention. It is a convention which you will not want to miss!

The 2024 Magi-Fest is over and our dealer space is all packed up back in the car. It was a GRRRRRRREAT convention! We are now at Tip Top Kitchen And Cocktails, another good restaurant near the Renaissance. My attached picture is of my dealer booth.

I brought six new items and sold out of several of them. Thank you all for your friend ship and support. Now it is time for more sessions. The first night, the sessions lasted until 2:45 AM, the second and third nights the sessions lasted until 4:00 AM, and tonight's sessions should last until 4 or 5:00 AM. The fun begins when the sessions start!

Tomorrow morning is time to drive back home.

With our cold temperatures, windchill, and a foot of fresh snow, I opted not to go to Lake Michigan for a fossil hunt (What I also call a treasure hunt).

Instead, I decided to go on a treasure hunt in either my attic, basement, or garage. I chose the basement. After fighting my way through the wildlife and boobytraps, I made it in. It was not long before I found a cool treasure. Or should I say, three of them. Three puzzles that were made in 1971 and they were still wrapped in their original cellophane wrapping. COOL❣️

I completely forgot that I still had them. I had purchased them in either 1973 or 1974 to sell in my magic shop, The Timid Rabbit Magic Shop in Ga***rd Michigan. Besides magic, I also sold unique games, toys, and gifts. If look at and read the text of the boxes, I think you will agree, they are quite unique.

These originally sold for $2.00 each. Though I have found "The Mark of Zero" on line for $24.99. However, thus far have not found a picture of "MOBY DUCK" nor "BAD DAY AT BOONDOCK"

Stay well and stay safe my friends
Antony Gerard
PS, Incidentally, there are boxes in my attic, basement, and garage that I have not opened since 1990 and earlier. I.e., There are MANY more treasures for me to unearth during these cold winter months. I will share pictures if (when) I find more cool stuff.πŸ₯Ά

One of my favorite routines is the Three Shell Game or Thimblerig. Over the years I have created and used several variations. Some of which are, my resin Thimblerig (1972) as seen in my pictures, my Hippity Hop Hats (1978), my Three Brasses (1979) as shown in my pictures, my The Three Shells Game (2018), and now my Scarabs (2024) as seen in mypictures.

Unfortunately, I no longer sell my Three Brasses because my supplier for the cups is no longer in business. The other sets I manufacture myself and still sell. Plus, I manufacture the balls in two sizes, three hardnesses, and several colors including green, black, and white.

I just made a second of my leather Double Deck Holsters. This one I did in black leather and with a silver wash. I like how it turned out, what do you think?

The leather is cowhide that was pressed to give the illusion of Crocodile/Dragon skin. The metal spike gives the illusion of an ancient Wizards pouch. It holds two poker size decks and has an Oak wooden barrier between the decks to hold them in place.

My Double Deck Holster is made out of one piece of leather. It is designed to hang on your belt. There are two snaps on the back flap so you do not have to remove your belt to put on or off the holster. In the next couple days, I plan to make a green one and a brown one. Please let me know what you think of my creations.

One of my favorite things to do is create things. Several years ago I created the small scarab in my attached pictures. I incorporated it in my routine, "Lost In Time".

Today I created the large scarab to employ in my Three Shells Game. Unlike my small scarab, my large scarab is hollow. I like both designs however, I am not which I like most, the Antique yellow and brown or the metallic green, like a real scarab beatle.

What do you think, antique or metallic green.

Thank you and I look forward to your input.

My wife Laura creates magic scenes inside snow globes. So when I saw these metal Harry Potter figures, I suggested incorporating them into a globe or ornament. We opted for an ornament.

The ornaments that I have are two part ornaments. Laura liked my suggested of using one ornament for two pieces. Laura found the brick floor pattern and the backdrop picture which I modified and sized to fit in the half globe. The backdrop was glued to a wooden disc and the floor glues to half a wooden disc. They were glued together and then the characters were glues in place.

I opted to mount them on an easel however, they could also be hung from their hanging hooks. They were given as Christmas gifts to our two daughter in laws who both love Harry Potter. It was a fun project that brought smiles from both daughter in laws.

I love the process of creating as much as I love the finished product.😊 I plan to create a few more for my magic den.
