Update from the last couple of weeks.
Three weeks ago we were at Kalamazoo Speedway. Early in the feature had a mishap and it ended with Lexi all up in the radiator of the 26. With a very late night and early morning Saturday, Nick Hutcherson made a run to VanDoorn Racing for all the parts to get the 26 to Springport that Saturday afternoon. And with a rebuilt car we had a great 3rd place finish.
Last week Friday night, with a rain out at Kalamazoo, the guys and I decided to take some time and spend it on the Street Stock and go over the Late Model to get ready for the 30th annual Kalamazoo Kalsh.
This Friday at Kalamazoo Speedway another rain out put running the Rumble and the Klash, both on Saturday.
The Streeter would not cooperate with any adjustments. We missed locking into the Rumble by a car or two. Then with an overheating issue, we were unable to run the Last Chance race, dashing our hopes to make it to the A Feature. The Late Model showed me who's the boss. The guys found a leaking oil line after qualifying. Made the repairs, or so we thought. But after starting the race we found the real gremlin and blew the oil line. Definitely not the results I was hoping for for my guys and the people that support this program.
I have to thank my guys for all the time they spend away from their families, and the thousand other things they could be doing, to work they're asses off on these cars. My crew chief has taken off only two days in in the last six weeks. Thank you.
