After Scagway Alaska I drove to Whitehorse Yukon Territory Canada. On the way we again saw some wildlife. Not as much as a couple days ago but some cool stuff. My second picture shows a Bald Eagle which flew within 30 feet of me. Wow❣️

The oldest bar was the 98 Hotel & Bar and Wow was it ever a rocket place! This is a bar that you visit if you want to have a BLAST! With good music and good beer, I will definitely return to this establishment. It was a fun time.

We also stayed at the motel (Hostel).

If I could feed Google maps to a Grizzly bear I would. What a cluster F---! On my trip from Montana to Saskatchewan Canada, she said, "I found a shorter route what will take 12 minutes off your time. Would you like to accept it." Of course I said yes. BIG MISTAKE!!!

She said to take the next left which I did, onto a dirt and gravel road, which led to another dirt and gravel road, and another, and Another, and ANOTHER, and on and on! At one point she told me to take the next left which I did, and found myself on a dirt two-track. The weeds were scraping on the bottom of our car until the road that she told me to turn on ended in a field?

We spent over 100 kilometers on that road and it wound up taking over two hours longer. While we were driving it got dark. We were supposed to arrive at the bar before dark. At one point I wanted to reassure Laura that it was not as bad as it appeared and I said, "At least it is not raining." No sooner were those words out of my mouth, when it started pouring rain. We both chuckled and I kept drinking.

We finally arrived at the Jasper Lounge in Maple Creek and we're able to relax, have dinner, and a much needed drink! THE Jasper Lounge was a good stop. Good atmosphere, service, food, and drink. I will visit again.

Next stop, Drumheller Alberta Canada. A three and a half hour drive at night. Because of the Google screw up, we will spend the night in Drumheller and visit the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne Alberta tomorrow.

After the Enchanted Highway we stopped by to see the North Dakota Badlands. To put it mildly, they are breathtaking.

Then we entered Montana on the way to Saskatchewan's oldest bar, the Jasper Lounge. My last picture is an abandoned building in Montana that caused my to pull over. Such an intriguing scene.

Next stop, Saskatchewan Canada, however, I will post pictures on that tomorrow.

After visiting Neumann’s Bar in Bismarck, I opted to do something UDDERLY ridiculous. We visited, "Sue, the World's Largest Holstein Cow". You may have HEARD of her. I must say, it was a MOOOOVING experience.

Incidentally, there was a CALF-ateria near by but we could not stop. We had to HOOF it and keep MOOOVING along. Though I did stop for a MILK-shake.🙄

I would not STEAK my reputation on this being a must see attraction. They would have to BEEF it up a bit.

I will end this post before I am accused of MILKING it.

Day Three of this adventure.

My next stop, after the World's Largest Buffalo, was a motel for the evening. The next morning was a visit to North Dakota's Peacock Alley bar. They had good service, atmosphere, food, and drink. I recommend this establishment and plan to return.

Our next stop was not part of my oldest bars tour, it was simply a fun stop.

After Neumann’s in North Saint Paul Minnesota we stopped at a roadside attraction in Alexandria Minnesota. At twenty-eight feet tall and 8,000 pounds, old Ole is the tallest and heaviest Viking.

You may be asking yourself, "Why!" I say, "Why not."😁

Because of a traffic jam, we arrived at Neumann’s Bar after hours. So we found a motel and visited Neumann’s Bar the next morning, on July 1st. It was worth the wait.

Neumann’s had great atmosphere, service, breakfast, and beer. I had French Toast, sausage, and a Lonely Shandy.

Neumann’s is in North Saint Paul Minnesota and is worth a visit! I plan to return someday❣️

This is my second stop on this adventure. Earlier today I stopped at The Village Tavern in Long Grove Illinois. After a beer there, and a two hour drive, we arrived at the M&M Bar in Watertown Wisconsin. Unfortunately, it was closed.

I only found out that it was closed after I walked in and saw that the place was under construction. There was one man in the bar, who as it turned out was the new owner. He told me that the newly removed bar would be reopening in several weeks.

I then told him about my bucket list item of visiting the oldest bar in every state and having a local beer there. At which time he offered me one of his beers. Wow, now that is customer service! It was not a local beer but it was one of two beers that I often drink, which are Heineken and Corona.

The new owner and I chatted for about an hour. He is a colorful and interesting individual. I will have to go back sometime and try out one of their local beers. Incidentally, the new look of the bar will be Mexican themed.

I gave the new owner one of my business cards and got back on the road. Next stop, Bismarck North Dakota.

This Sunday afternoon, Laura and I are off on an epic adventure. Not our first and not our last. Simply our most recent.

As many of you are aware, a little over a year ago, I started one of my bucket lists items. It is visiting the oldest bar in every country, state, province, and territory in North America and having a local beer there. I am visiting number 18 tomorrow in Scagway Alaska. It has been a blast so far.

Over the next three weeks, we will be visiting the oldest bars in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Saskatchewan Canada, Alberta Canada, Alaska, Yukon Territory Canada, British Columbia Canada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Iowa. Plus, many additional attractions! I will share more tomorrow.

It will be an amazing adventure❣️It will be a trip of about 8,500 miles, and I am driving. This will be the longest drive that I have ever done.

Our first stop is Long Grove Illinois at The Village Tavern.

I found several of these cards while organizing my collection. Not only do I not know what effect they belong to, but I do not know when I got them.

They are all Ace-of-Diamonds and are approximately five inches wide by seven and a half inches long and about a sixteenth of an inch thick. Printed on each card it says, "Abbott's Magic Novelty Co."

Please let me know if you know what effect these cards go to. I have ten of these cards. I suspect that only one cards goes with the effect t which it was created for.

Thank you

I have been so busy with sales and sessions at the FFFF Convention, that I have not shared anything. On the first night, I turned in early, about 3:00 AM (Wednesday night). Thursday was the late night with turn in time at 5:00 AM. Last night, Friday, the lack of sleep hit me. I turned in at 4:00 AM. Tonight, may be an all nighter?🤔 As for tomorrow, Sunday, well time will tell.

It has been a blast so far❣️I met and sessioned with many old friends. Plus, I made MANY new friends. As always it has been a great convention.

Tomorrow, April 11th, is the opening day of The Gateway Close-Up Convention in Collinsville Illinois, about 15 miles east of Saint Louis. The dates are, April 11th through 13th, 2024.

You will not regret it if you attend this event. Just check out the performers and lecturers scheduled. There are some great names on the schedule and I am proud to be one of the performer / lecturers.

I will be the opening act on the Friday Close-Up show. Right after the Close-Up show, I will start my lecture, Magic Behind Bars. My Magic Behind Bars lecture features my Idiosyncratic Classic Force. This lecture focuses on playing cards, however, I will also share several coin ideas, and a Billiard Ball move.

I offer my Magic Behind Bars lecture as a standard two and a half hour lecture (2 1/2 hour), or as my marathon lecture which could be anywhere from 5 to 11 hours. The Gateway Close-Up Convention opted for my marathon lecture so bring a pot of coffee and get ready for some serious fun.

I look forward to seeing you soon

I was a dealer at today's Michigan Magic Day. I met many old friends and made several new friends. It was a fun time.

I just finished packing up my dealer booth at the Michigan Magic Day convention in Vicksburg Michigan. I sold a LOT of my creations and was asked to do a lecture at two of Michigan's magic clubs.

I love my job❣️

We just finished dinner and drinks at the Antlers Bar and it was a great stop. They are bar number 10 on my bucket list of visiting the oldest bar in every state in the U.S.A. and I suspect that they will stay in my top ten list to the end.

Great atmosphere, great service, and great food and drink. I highly recommend The Antlers Bar!

After the end of a GRRRRRRREAT Winter Carnival of Magic, we are on our way to Blowing Rock North Carolina. Getting ready to put notch number 10 on my bucket list of visiting the oldest bar in every state in the U.S.A. and having a local beer there. Next stop, Antlers for dinner and drinks.😋

Well, this is not how I planned my trip to Pigeon Forge Tennessee for my lecture at the Winter Carnival of Magic.

A 123 miles on the road and got a flat tire.🤨 Luckily we have road service and are now at the service station getting not one, but all of the tires replaced.🥴🤯😡😤

Glad that I decided to leave a day early. Instead of arriving in Pigeon Forge at 4:30 PM, it will be more like 9:00 PM.

Life goes on🤔

03/02/2024

I was just asked to be the opening lecturer for the 2024 Winter Carnival of Magic in Pigeon Forge Tennessee on March 7th. Incidentally, this will be the 49th annual Winter Carnival of Magic.

My lecture, "A Medley of Magical Mysteries" will take place on Thursday at 1:00 PM and it will be the first event of the convention.

"A Medley of Magical Mysteries" is my newest lecture and this will be my first time performing it. It is a compilation, a medley, of seven effects culled from seven of my different book/lecture notes. Being a card guy, there will of course be card effects performed and taught. However, I will also share some coin and sponge ball ideas.

I will also have a dealer booth in the dealer room and will have several new items available.

I look forward to sharing my art, my ideas, and my passion with you soon.

Please also take a moment to view the Winter Carnival of Magic Facebook and web pages. The lineup this year is impressive and at a reasonable cost!

See you soon

PS, My friend Stephen Bargatze was also just added to the lineup. Plus, Derek Hughes was recently added as well.

I had a GRRRRRRRRRREAT late night session last night through early morning at the 2024 Magi-FestConvention in Columbus Ohio. I finally turned in at 6:00 AM. I could have gone longer, however, I had to get in at least two to three hours of sleep before driving home.

Most of my sessions involved me demonstrating, sharing, and teaching my creations. Plus, I was asked by several to critique their performance. It was a blast.

Thank you all for your friendship, support, and company. You made this an exceptional convention. Plus, I look forward to seeing many of you at some of the upcoming 2024 magic events. And do not forget about The Gateway Close-Up Convention. It is a convention which you will not want to miss!

The 2024 Magi-Fest is over and our dealer space is all packed up back in the car. It was a GRRRRRRREAT convention! We are now at Tip Top Kitchen And Cocktails, another good restaurant near the Renaissance. My attached picture is of my dealer booth.

I brought six new items and sold out of several of them. Thank you all for your friend ship and support. Now it is time for more sessions. The first night, the sessions lasted until 2:45 AM, the second and third nights the sessions lasted until 4:00 AM, and tonight's sessions should last until 4 or 5:00 AM. The fun begins when the sessions start!

Tomorrow morning is time to drive back home.

01/13/2024

With our cold temperatures, windchill, and a foot of fresh snow, I opted not to go to Lake Michigan for a fossil hunt (What I also call a treasure hunt).

Instead, I decided to go on a treasure hunt in either my attic, basement, or garage. I chose the basement. After fighting my way through the wildlife and boobytraps, I made it in. It was not long before I found a cool treasure. Or should I say, three of them. Three puzzles that were made in 1971 and they were still wrapped in their original cellophane wrapping. COOL❣️

I completely forgot that I still had them. I had purchased them in either 1973 or 1974 to sell in my magic shop, The Timid Rabbit Magic Shop in Ga***rd Michigan. Besides magic, I also sold unique games, toys, and gifts. If look at and read the text of the boxes, I think you will agree, they are quite unique.

These originally sold for $2.00 each. Though I have found "The Mark of Zero" on line for $24.99. However, thus far have not found a picture of "MOBY DUCK" nor "BAD DAY AT BOONDOCK"

Stay well and stay safe my friends
Antony Gerard
PS, Incidentally, there are boxes in my attic, basement, and garage that I have not opened since 1990 and earlier. I.e., There are MANY more treasures for me to unearth during these cold winter months. I will share pictures if (when) I find more cool stuff.🥶
