FedEx made a delivery to my shop today and it was like ten Christmas at once. My Slydini by Slydini Video Masterclass came in. I heard about the Christian Fechner recordings years ago (they were recorded in 1978) and the moment I heard that they were going to be released, I ordered my set. I had the honor of studying with Tony years ago and miss spending time with him. So looking forward to getting into it.

We are safe after the I-75 open shooter incident just south of London Kentucky.

We were on our way home from the SAM Convention in Arlington Texas. I did a detour so that Laura could get a little R&R in Florida. Then I headed home. As I came over a crest of a hill, I noticed that the traffic was stand still. I slammed on my breaks stopping only a few feet from the stopped traffic. The driver behind me had to veer off the road to avoid hitting our car.

As I pulled to a stop, I noticed what looked like an accident a quarter mile ahead. We sat there for about three hours before being told that it was an active shooter incident and that the shooter had fled into the woods.

I heard that several are dead and more injured. If I had not stopped to get directions a few minutes earlier, Laura and I could have been among the dead and injured. It could easily have been worse for us.

Please send prayers to the families and injured.

Yesterday, Friday September 6th, I went on my second September fossil hunt. Mostly, I found Ray teeth but I also found 37 fossil shark teeth. My favorites being two Sand Tiger Shark teeth, one of which being a symphiseal. I also found many shells and several other fossils.

My hunt was at the Service Club Park just down from Sharky's at the pier near Venice Florida (Gulf-of-Mexico). Because I had to drive back home to Michigan that evening, I only made it a three hour hunt. It was a great way to end this trip, this adventure. My next hunt will be in Lake Michigan next week.

After our stop at the Under-The-Hill Saloon, we spent the night in Natchez. The next morning we started to head to our next stop in Anniston Alabama but decided to get an early lunch before getting on the road.

We stopped at Mammy's Cupboard restaurant. It was a fun stop. The owner, who seated us, gave us a fun history lesson pertaining to Natchez, himself and his business, plus told a few good stories and jokes. They also had several fun signs.

The service was great, the food good, and it is a stop that I plan to make again.

The entrance to the restaurant used to be a giant Aunt Jamime like character, however, in recent years, the world famous African/American lady had a makeover from African/American lady to Caucasian lady. I never saw Aunt Jamima as a stereotype. I simply saw her as a business person.

In earlier days, the business was a gas station. For an amusing read, read the wording on the sign in my last picture. It is quite amusing.

After lunch, we stopped at an antique store and then headed to Anniston.

After our stop at the Scholz Beer Garten in Austin, we headed to Natchez Mississippi for our visit at the over 200 year old saloon, the Under-The-Hill Saloon. It was an amazing place and visit.

It was Karaoke night and as we entered a gentleman asked if we were there to sing Karaoke. I politely declined, to which he replied, You do not have to be good, just do one song. To which I replied, The last time I did Karaoke, I was arrested for disturbing the peace. He smiled and said, Have a great time.

Unfortunately, the Under-The-Hill Saloon does not serve local beers so, I had a Fat Tire Ale.

The Saloon was everything that you would expect from a 200 year old saloon and then some. The atmosphere was fantastic, the beer and service good, and the customers were engaging and fun.

I look forward to visiting here again!

I was the last person off the street at the 2019 Abbott Magic Get-Together on Saturday night (3:00 AM). Before I left, I shot this video of the aftermath of the 2019 Street of Cards. A tradition of scaling (throwing) playing cards. There are four main criteria in scaling cards. Acuracy (hitting a target with a single playing card), distance (how many feet can you throw a single playing card), power (throwing a playing card through several sheets of newspaper, into a watermelon, or cutting something like a grape in half), and rapid fire (how many cards a person can throw over ten feet in one minute). I personally brought five bricks of cards that I donated to the eager crowd. Many others brought decks and bricks of cards as well. At one time there were over 100 people throwing cards together. From five year olds to senior citizens. It was a blast sharing the passion of card scaling (throwing) with so many others. This was the 45th anniversary of card scaling during the Abbott Magic Get-Together and my 46th year scaling cards. There were also several teaching sessions scheduled throughout the convention. Because of my arthritis, I was no longer able to scale cards to the second floor roof, however, several others did scale playing cards to the second floor roof, including my two sons Tony and Nick. I look forward to continuing the tradition next year. Same time, same place, and same friends. Until then, stay well and stay safe my friends.
