What makes a song timeless? At Symphony Jazz Night, we’ll explore not just the sounds but also the stories of some of the most beloved classics from the American Songbook and beyond. Here’s a sneak peek at a few pieces on the program:

✨ "La Vie en Rose"
Originally sung by the legendary Edith Piaf, this 1945 French classic translates to “Life in Pink,” symbolizing seeing the world through rose-colored glasses. Piaf’s heartfelt performance turned it into an international hit, and its lush melody and poetic lyrics remain a symbol of romance. Halie Loren’s interpretation brings new depth and elegance to this iconic song.

✨ "The Thrill Is Gone"
A jazz standard from the 1930s, this piece by Ray Henderson and Lew Brown and first sung by Everett Marshall on Broadway. Over the years, its melancholic melody has resonated with countless artists, from jazz vocalists to blues musicians. Steven Santoro’s rendition promises to breathe fresh emotion into this timeless tune.

✨ "What a Wonderful World"
