From the battlefields of the past to the challenges of today, Marines have continued to exemplify the highest standards of courage, honor, and commitment. You have stood watch in every clime and place, defending freedom and protecting those who cannot protect themselves.
On this historic occasion, the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen Eric M. Smith, and the Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps, SgtMaj Carlos A. Ruiz, extend their deepest gratitude to every Marine — past and present — and to the families who stand beside them. Your steadfast devotion and selfless service continue to define what it means to be a Marine.
As we reflect on 250 years of proud service, let us honor the legacy built by those who came before and renew our commitment to carrying the torch forward for generations to come.
