Next weekend is our second annual Lake Day!! We’ll be heading out to Gaea Retreat Center around 3pm on Saturday 8/24.
You’ll need to buy a day pass at gaearetreat.org to have access the lake and then RSVP to our event page at transjoykc.com/upcoming-events so that we can know who all is coming and coordinate food/carpooling.

2ND ANNUAL TRANS JOY LAKE DAY!!
August’s Trans Joy in the Park will be our annual Lake Day & Cookout on Saturday 8/24 from 3-7pm. We will be going out to Gaea this year so we can ensure a trans-affirming space where everyone can feel comfortable swimming! We will also have potluck cookout and carpool sign-ups. We are putting together a Trans Artists Market in collaboration with RAYGUN for Crossroads’ First Fridays on September 6th.
Vendor spots are FREE!!
Preference will go to people of color, disabled folks, and folks in financial crisis.

The Trans Joy team will be out of our virtual office for the rest of the month as we finalize preparations for camp next week, June 27th-30th. Bring your pals, blankets, snacks, songs, hula-hoops and yard games 🧺🥪🧃You can also bring trans-authored/featured books & zines to add to our Little Trans Library and anything you’d like to post on our Comminity Bulletin Board. will be leading a free yoga session at 6pm and we will also be graced by the presence of some of our dear friends the ! We’ll be in the greenspace on the west side of Loose Park behind the tennis courts and doing dances to hold off this evenings thunderstorms until after dark. See you all there ☀️🌸🌳

This Saturday 5/25 is our monthly Trans Joy in the Park! 5pm-sundown at Loose Park, west side behind the tennis courts. Think of Trans Joy in the Park as your monthly trans family reunion! This month we will have two special features: Yoga led by Sarah Wylie at 6pm and we will also be graced by the presence of the City of Fountains Sisters 😍
⛈️ Weather Plan: In case of 50% chance or higher of rain by Friday, we will move to the pavilion at the Lakeside Nature Center. In case of severe weather, we will cancel.

More volunteers are needed to help with checking tickets at the door, serving non-alcoholic drinks, and to help with set-up (aka decorating!!) and tear-down/clean-up. We would like to have more volunteers so that folks still have plenty of time to enjoy the festivities.

Trans Joy Summer Camp priority registration is now open for families with young children and teens bringing guardians to ensure that you will be housed together if needed.
Minors ages 5 and older must have a separate registration form completed. Minors under 5 should be listed on their guardian’s registration form.

Trans stay-at-home mom in KC needing help with childcare during upcoming bottom surgery & 6-week recovery. Looking for folks to help watch 5yo kiddo from 9am-6pm while wife is at work. April 29th thru June 14th, primarily needing Tuesdays & Wednesdays and some Mondays.

Dates have been secured for Trans Joy Camp 2024! I wasn’t able to put into words what TCJ’23 was like, so I decided to ask the campers and staff how they would describe it. Want to experience the magic for yourself? TJC’24 will be held on June 27-30th at Gaea Retreat Center. Stay tuned for more information regarding volunteer needs and registration.
