Our church family lost one of its longtime members this week with the passing of Doyne Blount.

I remember Doyne from my childhood at the church, and from stopping at his filling station numerous times on my way to classes at UMKC during my first year of college. He was a kind and gentle man and will be missed here on earth.

May his family and friends find comfort and strength in this solemn, peaceful season knowing that Doyne's soul is filled with joy as he continues to watch over them.

Until we are able to join together once again as a choir at HMCCC, I have been recording songs to be used in our online services. I very much look forward to guiding other voices in song! In the meantime, I hope each day sends you a message of faith, hope, and love.

We will practice on the following Saturdays from 10am till noon:
10/19, 11/2, 11/9, 12/7, 12/14

Our church family has suffered a terrible loss with the passing of Loretta Phelps yesterday afternoon. Just last Sunday, she seemed fine as I talked with her briefly. It's a solemn reminder that we just never know how long we have on this earth.

Loretta and I didn't always see eye to eye, but I've never known anyone so stalwart in her faith, admirably living the words to serve and love others indiscriminately. I had the utmost respect for her strength and dedication to her faith and her amazing love for her husband, her children and spouses, and her grandchildren. Loretta had become a matriarch in our church family, orchestrating all our shared meals and events over the last couple decades or longer!

May Loretta's family find peace, strength, and comfort as she rests in God's loving embrace. Perhaps she will get to take charge in Heaven's kitchen ❤
