Chocolate Dipped Orange Shortbread Cookies

Buttery orange-flavored shortbread cookies dipped in rich chocolate, a delightful treat perfect for holiday celebrations or gifting.

Ingredients:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 teaspoons orange zest (from 1 orange)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup dark or semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Optional: orange sprinkles or zest for garnish

Directions:

In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in the orange zest and vanilla extract until evenly combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add this to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough just comes together.
Roll the dough into a log about 2 inches in diameter, wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until firm.
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Slice the chilled dough into 1/4-inch thick rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet, about 1 inch apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
Once cooled, dip half of each cookie into the melted chocolate and place them on parchment paper to set. Sprinkle with orange sprinkles or additional orange zest if desired.
Let the chocolate set fully before serving or storing in an airtight container.
