Yesterday with Samantha & Zach… They gave me full reign to decide where we took photos, and wow, that sunset did not disappoint! They chose to get married in such a close and intimate setting, exchanging vows with the KC skyline as the perfect backdrop after sunset. Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day

You blink and the year is almost over. I get so many emails asking about engagement photos and locations! Most indoor spots in Kansas City do make you pay a permit fee. Ranging anywhere from $100-$2000 is what to expect. A typical session will be at least two different locations and at least two outfits! I offer suggestions and ideas on where to go :) I am also a strong supporter of doing something that’s you! So if that’s an activity, a sport, a picnic in the park, your favorite local bar, making ice cream in your house, I’m here for it all!

Let’s talk Christmas, trigger warning… mental health.

I try to look back at when I actually loved Christmas. Was it when I was a little child and surrounded by the only family I knew? When our family actually got together? You know the innocence of Christmas. Or was it when I got my first boyfriend and my mom and his mom actually surprised us with a gift of traveling to Mexico. Is that when I realized I didn’t like gifts? I actually only liked experiences? I remember being 14 years old and getting pajamas as a gift and all I could think of was how much my mom could save by not giving us gifts. You know the struggles of poverty and actually realizing we were broke as an early teen. Or is it the constant reminder that I have traits of my father who doesn’t exist in my life and just remembering how miserable he was to be around at holidays. Now that I’m almost 40, no kids, it really is hard finding the magic of Christmas. I’m just reminded of why I don’t love it but I know I want to focus this energy in a more positive way. So this month I made more of a point to surround myself with peers and do festive things, it was nice to be reminded of the beauty in Christmas. I also really wanted to do something special for my wedding couples this year, for the past 2 years I wanted to give Christmas gifts and this year I made it happen! Look at me go, being domesticated lol. So merry Christmas, I hope you all get yours gifts before Christmas but be on the lookout 👀
