"We wanted to get married near the Crossroads as we had both lived there when we were younger. We toured at least a half dozen venues around the KC metro/downtown area and [UNION] was unique in a few important ways that made it the perfect venue for us.
The building is newly renovated but maintained its old-time feeling (beautiful, exposed brick and wood features) and has three floors plus its rooftop has an incredible view of downtown which we did our first look on and the pictures turned out great. Having three floors allowed for multiple layout options and for the ceremony and reception to be in the same place, which was a big feature for us. Their tables for the reception are great and we did not need to use linens because the tables looked so good with just flowers and candles, which is nice as it was one less thing we had to worry about. Plus, the new elevator was great for catering and elderly guests to avoid the stairs. The basement is very cool, it was built like a speakeasy which was ideal for cocktail hour.
We used their drink/bar package and were able to customize everything we wanted, that process did take a few iterations and I would recommend starting that process early to get your quote because drinks can be an important part of the night. We had an open bar, and everyone had a good time!...Another accommodating feature of the venue is the 24-hour time allotment so you can go back in the morning to get any items you want to leave overnight which we took advantage of and were very thankful we had that option, very few places allow more than 12-hours. I would highly recommend touring the venue, look at their Instagram page too as the pictures are impressive and you can see what has been done there. It is a great, photogenic space that can be configured into whatever your vision may be."
