Want to know our story?? It’s a long one 🤍🤍

According to statistics, we should have failed by now 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean… we started this whole thing two months before before Covid quite literally shut down our entire industry. Two women? Having and raising kids? Starting a business with nothing? DURING A PANDEMIC?? To say the odds were stacked against us is the understatement of the century.

However, let me tell you - We hustled out butts off to make it work. Failure was not an option, we knew we HAD to make it work and at some point along the way our motto became “if not me then who?” 💪🏻💪🏻There was no back up plan, no one to fall back on and no safety net… just us… making it work.

But here's the thing - over the past five years weathering this whirlwind side by side, has led us to trust in each other fully and evolve into family. We've made it through brutally honest fights, clashed over design perspectives, navigated 60 hour work weeks, designing back-to-back weddings, and after every hurdle we overcame, we would be stronger for the next.

At the end of the day, following our hearts is what led us here. Sure, it hasn't been easy, but we wouldn't trade our sisterhood bond or the beautiful love stories we've been able to be apart of for any of it 🤍👯‍♀️🤍

💕👯‍♀️Happy International Womans Day 💕👯‍♀️

Did you know that International Women’s Day has an official flower? Mimosa or Acacia symbolizes solidarity and friendship and for years has been given to women as a way to show appreciation and respect.

Why the Mimosa flower??

History tells that the Mimosa was chosen by the Union of Italian Women (U.D.I) as a symbol of the women struggle for the 8th of March 1946. This was the first time that the Woman’s Day was celebrated in the country after the end of World War II.
Acacia was elected plant of the women because of its delicacy in the appearance and capacity to grow wild in difficult soils.- which honestly just feels so symbolic 💪🏻💪🏻

A little bit about the amazing woman being the flowers -
Stone House Flowers is a flower farm in Lawrence currently supporting local designers with winter and shoulder season production. An engineer with a green thumb, owner Cailinn Drouin is fascinated with controlled environment agriculture and passionate about using science and technology to promote the efficient and sustainable use of resources. She also feels that growing is just plain good for the soul! When not at the computer, you’re most likely to find her tromping around in overalls and muck boots in the grow space, with her border collie “Oliver” in tow. And at the end of the day, she’s grateful for the family and community support that allows her to spend time doing what she loves. Because really, what’s more fun than brightening someone’s day with flowers?!

Hi 👋🏻 I’m Betsy, co-owner of Lily Floral Designs. I do a lot of the behind the scenes stuff around here 💪🏻, you know - like sourcing all the best flowers, creating recipes and sample for designs, making sure everyone and everything gets paid, building random things as well as designing!

So here’s a little about me and and how I got here -

I’ve been designing since 2007 when I fell into a flower shop job while still in school. I knew almost instantly that I had found my path in the floral world. I’ve been fortunate enough to work in cities across the country while really developing a design style of my own that I’m proud of and love being able to share with our amazing clients 🫶🏻💐🫶🏻

Beyond the studio I’m a mom to sweet Josephine💕, I love to cook, and garden. I love interior design and most home DIY projects 💪🏻🔨🎨 I’m a live music lover, avid concert goer, and wanna be wine enthusiasts 🍷 and love a good true crime podcast 😂

Overall Im passionate about design and love that we’re able to create something so unique and beautiful out of flowers!

Let me reintroduce myself… I’m Lily - co,owner of Lily Floral Designs! This thing started as a side hustle in my studio apartment kitchen (hence the company name) and now we’ve grown to having 250 events last year & a 3,000 sq ft studio. 😱😱😱

I handle all communication with clients, I am one of our designers and do a whole bunch of other things!! 💪🏼

I am a mom to a pretty incredible 2 year old, Julian. I love all things pop culture, listening to RnB, thrift shopping and hanging out with my kiddo. 💙🧑🏽‍🦱

I love what we do at Lily Floral Designs because it allows us to provide a bright spot in a sometimes dark world - flowers are proven to heal and that’s what makes this a perfect “job” for me. ♥️♥️♥️

Meet Tina👋🏻 - Tina is our Studio Manager and the the keeper of all things around here!  She handles everything from client communication to designing to making sure everyone eats and just about everything in between 🙌🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻.  Tina has been with Lily Floral Designs since Fall of 2022 and we knew AS SOON as we met her that we needed her to be a part of our team, like literally knew we couldn’t live without her 🥹.  Tina lovessss orchids, ranunculus and tulips and has a growing passion for the design world!  When not keeping it all together for Lily Floral Designs you’ll find Tina traveling, concert going and trying all the best restaurants around the city ✌🏻

Fun fact about Tina - Tina is first generation Vietnamese American, born and raised in KC and lovesssss everything KC.
