The Kauaʻi Steel Guitar Festival is a free 2-day festival developed to promote and perpetuate appreciation and interest in the Hawaiian Steel Guitar. The festival is produced and presented by the Hawaii Institute for Music Enrichment and Learning Experiences (HIMELE) and Ke Kula Mele Hawaiʻi School of Hawaiian Music, partnering with the Sheraton Kauaʻi Coconut Beach. The festival includes steel guitar workshops, open stage opportunities, area school visitations, and culminates with a hoʻolauleʻa featuring a series of performances by Hawaiian steel guitar masters. Festival guests are also invited to participate in nightly kanikapila sessions immediately following the day’s activities. The annual Kauaʻi Steel Guitar Festival is held at the Sheraton Kauaʻi Coconut Beach, immediately preceding the annual Keola Beamer Aloha Music Camp.
Funding provided by Hawai‘i Tourism through the Kūkulu Ola Program. The festival is also made possible through travel donations from Hawaiian Airlines.
