PAY: $100 per show + Tips

SYNOPSIS: Greedy Granbury Green, the town’s big shot banker, has been bumped off and Marshal Jim Courtright may need a crystal ball to figure out who’s done it. Could it be Dusty Muddwater, the fastidiously clean and directionally challenged prospector with gold in his future? Did Tatyana, the self-proclaimed Queen of the Gypsies, predict Mr. Green’s future or take things into her own hands? Then there’s Clarice Green, the neglected wife of the dearly departed, who may have been trampled on by her husband for the last time. Or perhaps Mortimer Morton, the local undertaker, had an extra casket to fill. All predictions indicate chaos and laughter in the immediate future as you help the Marshal read the signs and solve the crime.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

Marshal Jim Courtright (Male, Age Range: late 20s+): Jim is a man’s man, a straight arrow trying his best to maintain law and order in a rowdy frontier town. Intelligent, street-wise and a keen observer of people, he doesn’t give in to superstition and won’t suffer fools or fortunetellers.

Dusty Muddwater (Male, Any Age): The most fastidiously clean prospector you’ll ever meet west of the Mississippi, Dusty has unfortunately suffered through a long string of filthy jobs. Thanks to some good advice, however, his luck is about to change but only if he can hit gold before Granbury Green calls in his loan.

Clarice Green (Female, Any Age): The not-so-contented wife of Granbury Green, the wealthiest man in town. Although elegant in demeanor, she can be a demanding lover. She likes her men like she likes her horses: well-trained.

Mortimer Morton (Male, Age Range: 30s+): The second wealthiest man in town, Mortimer is not the life-of-the-party type and still yearns for the one true love of his life. Unfortunately, she married someone else. But that hasn’t kept him from thinking about her all these years wondering what life would be like if her pesky husband would depart the relationship.

REHEARSALS: Rehearsals will be 9-10 TBD dates between Nov. 4-21.

PERFORMANCE DATES: November 22 - December 31, 2024. Public performances are Friday & Saturday nights in November and Thursday – Sunday nights in December with double shows on Fridays and Saturdays. Actors MUST BE available to perform on the evenings of Dec. 7th and 14th.

CASTING: Due to volume of performances, we will be casting three actors per character. Performances will be divided accordingly.

PAY: $100 + tips per show

SYNOPSIS: Hark! The sounds of the holiday season are dancing upon the evening air. What?! Oh no! Apparently, there is “Dismay in a Manger” at the annual Christmas Pageant rehearsals. This year’s pageant is going to be a doozy! Mayor Rufus Yates has written this horrible holiday havoc, and he’s cast this show in a manner that has everyone wanting to hang him -- or worse. Was Mayor Rufus Yates trying to roast more than chestnuts when he assigned the roles to this cast of Wild West misfits? Perhaps he was attempting to deliver his own Yuletide ultimatum with this preposterous pageant. Only one thing is certain: someone has taken the Mayor “out” in the outhouse.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN:

MARSHAL JIM COURTRIGHT (Male, Any Age) - He is our likeable lawman who does his best to maintain law and order in a rowdy frontier town. Mayor Yates has cast Jim in the role of Joseph for the Christmas pageant, and he’s very excited about being a part of it…regardless of how bad the script is.

JUBAL TUCKER (Male, Age: 20s – 50s) - A stagecoach driver who seems to have left quite a past on that stagecoach trail. He’s unusually well-educated for someone who’s been driving a stagecoach all his life. Cast as the pageant’s talking donkey, Jubal is anxious to ditch the donkey act and deliver his own message about the gross inaccuracies in the pageant script.

HOLLY - (Female, Age: 20s – 50s) - She is the town’s hardworking Madam and owner of “Miss Holly’s House of Happiness.” She is determined to make the Mayor reconsider the role he’s cast her in for the Christmas Pageant. Already frustrated by the Mayor’s persistent addition of new taxes on her business, Holly may be on the verge of offering the Mayor her “Fair Well My Love” special…for free.

CAROLYN YATES (Female, Age: 20s – 50s) - She has learned to climb the social ladder – no matter the sacrifice. She has contrived to get the right husband, join the right society, and host the right socials. However, all that social ladder climbing has left little time for her “passions.” Upset over her role in the Christmas pageant, Carolyn is about to learn that every decision in life comes with a price.

REVEREND RUDOLPH (Male, Any Age) - He is the town’s reluctant Reverend who would rather check into the resort spa than answer another needy knock at the parsonage door. Forced into directing the Christmas pageant by Mayor Yates, this high-strung Reverend is on the verge of a nervous breakdown. How did the Mayor force our Reverence into managing this “manger of madness?” Just what does he hold over the Reverend?

SYNOPSIS
“All those who enter, never leave.” Anyone who dares enter the abandoned township of Dead Man’s Crossing must submit to the rule of the supernatural. Once a formidable man of the law, Marshal Courtright is now The Ghoul of the land. He has turned Cassidy, a well-known socialite, into a fellow supernatural ghoul. Together they lure unsuspecting humans to sacrifice their heads to the Headless Horseman before feasting upon their remains. But this time is different. This time one of the humans is Wyatt, Cassidy’s brother. Will he make it out alive?

CHARACTERS
Marshal Jim Courtright (Male) – He is a strong, formidable supernatural force to be reckoned with both physically and in overall presence. He is the ghoul in power and only answers to the Headless Horseman.

Cassidy (Female) – Cassidy was well-loved by all before disappearing from her hometown. She was turned into a ghoul by Marshal Courtright and is now his subservient partner. Her supernatural skills include telekinesis and incantations.

Wyatt (Male) – The brother to Cassidy, he has come looking for his sister to save the day. He’s an all-round hero of a guy never short on integrity or bravery.

Professor Cody (Male) – The comic relief and friend of Wyatt, Cody is well-educated in all things especially the lore of the supernatural. He’s the brains to Wyatt’s bravery, but much prefers the solitude of a library to a trip to Ghoul-town.

Headless Horseman (Male) – The stories are true. The Headless Horseman eternally rides at night seeking to make himself whole again by acquiring a decapitated head before returning to his “unresting” place. This is a non-speaking role.
