I’ve committed—139 Olive is officially an event venue! 🤣 The new website says it all: https://www.139olive.com/
It’s been quite the journey, Miss Olive. I didn’t even know why I bought this place, but it was completely God-led, guided by faith at a time when I was still finding my footing.
This building itself is a testimony. If you wonder why I openly share my faith, it’s because I walk into this space daily, knowing I’ve witnessed something beyond myself.
At the time, I had no business buying a building. I was hustling with my beauty truck, and every time I drove by this area, I felt an inexplicable pull—like the Jumanji drums calling, haha. Then one day, I literally heard, “Download the app.” Instantly, I knew it was the commercial real estate app I’d deleted months earlier, thinking I had no reason to look at buildings. I re-downloaded it, and the first listing to pop up was Miss Olive. When I saw it, I got chills. She happened to be sitting in the exact area I kept feeling pulled to.
I called my realtor, who knew my entrepreneurial situation when it came to funding, but like any good realtor, she humored me. Within minutes of leaving for the showing, doubts hit hard. “Ashley, this is crazy. You can’t do this,” I thought. Then suddenly, an overwhelming peace and joy washed over me, so strong I began to cry. I had a vision: God was putting everything back in place for me. I thought, “This time, I’ll own the building.” I even sensed it was old, like the 100+ year-old building I’d renovated back in Connecticut where my salon used to be.
When I arrived, I knew immediately—this was mine. My realtor will tell you. I was on a mission that day to secure funding. I was denied three times, trying everything, but I hadn’t prayed. Finally, feeling lost, I asked God for help. I was confused to feel like He led me to this but, didn't secure the bag too. 😆
Clear as day, I heard, “Go knock on your neighbor’s door. She can help you.” I barely knew her, but she was a woman of faith and business, so I took a chance. And wouldn’t you know it, within 20 minutes, she connected me with a private lender who was ready to help.
Meanwhile, the sellers knew I was interested, but another offer was coming in. They graciously gave me until the week’s end to get my financing. Right on the deadline, my lender provided the letter I needed. The terms were rough, but I submitted the offer. My husband asked, “What are we doing with this building?” I answered, “I don’t know. We’ll figure it out, but it’s not going to be a salon.” 😂 The offer was accepted!
The next week, out of the blue, my bank—the one that had denied me three times—called back, now wanting to fund the deal. I closed with my original bank under far more favorable terms. Every step tested my faith, and it was obedience paired with faith that made this building truly ours.
How it became an event venue is another story, but I cherish how Miss Olive came into my world. I love watching this space evolve while it serves women and honors God along the way. I’m just a steward, doing my best to bring faith and action to this partnership, following those God nudges every step of the way.
