For us, this was the absolute best part of Valentine's Day! We delivered the love and brought the smiles to all of the Silver Valley's nursing home residents. A big THANK YOU to our wonderful community for being sponsors again this year - we couldn't do it without you! After a crazy busy few days at the shop, we're finally catching our breath... 💖 A friendly PSA from Valley Violets to our local community and beyond: 💐💖💐

💖 Valentine’s Day is one of the biggest floral holidays of the year, but many people don’t realize that ordering online through third-party systems is actually hurting the small, local florists.

💖 When you order though these big-name services, most of your money goes to middlemen, and not to the local florists who truly create the arrangements. Instead, these big box corporations take a huge cut—❣️sometimes over 30%❣️—from local florists like us, leaving the actual flower shop barely enough to cover costs, let alone make a profit 💔

💖 For example, if you spend $85 on a bouquet that looks beautiful, let’s say it’s $100 after fees, tax, etc. They are sending us $60-65 to fill that order, and we make all orders to the price we receive. This makes your arrangement be WAY less value than you actually paid for it. This makes it look like it’s our fault when, in reality, we received $60 to make & deliver the flowers you paid $100 for.

💖 These order-gathering services can also absorb the bulk of flower warehouses. This leaves local florists with a limited selection, having to either purchase flowers back for their own shop, or fulfill flower orders from these corporations.
