A magical chuppah, dripping with baby’s breath, roses and orchids.

This was a labor of love as it torrential downpoured during our set up. But just before the ceremony began, the weather cleared and they had a perfect, candlelit evening. There were hundreds of candles,
Fairy light curtains, and *thousands* of roses. What a celebration!

The ceremony area is my favorite to design. It’s the most important area of your day and I love for flowers to add to the beauty of the words said between partners.

Inspired by the brilliant , I tried to keep the same feel with different panels of dyed baby’s breath. Each color was organized in the rainbow gradient, and I encouraged my freelancers to make the mechanics as crazy as possible to get the most texture and height. Later, each panel was moved inside to match the rainbow that was going on at reception. Each table was also in the correct color order which makes for a clean, cohesive look rather than a splatter of color. And we love an intentional color moment 👏

Personal flowers… but make it rainbow! The bouquet, the lapel florals, the pocket squares, and the hand painted anthurium that fit the theme perfectly, all demonstrating the rainbow color story.

For whatever reason it seems that the last weddings of the year have a magic touch to them.

Our bride, Mitza had this vision of a woodsy fairyland, and it all came together from the whimsical ferns to the dried mushrooms peeking out of the arch for little fairies to use as stepping stones. Vines hung from the chandeliers and moss nestled around the ferns and florals along the aisle path. Mossy pads decorated the tables with little ferns, dried nigella pods and woodland accents seeming to grow effortlessly around candles. It was intimate and sweet and felt like you were transported, if only for an evening, into a wedding in the woods.

Back to one of my favorite venues for this gorgeous fall wedding.

I get asked a lot of times why I don’t construct arch pieces ahead of time, hang them, and leave. It’s honestly because I like to build everything to scale. Even on arches I’ve done so many times, like this one. Every flower tucks in at an angle, fills a space, creates a mood. I get to make unique art, in person, every single time.

About Flaura Botanica

“Don’t you just love playing with flowers all day?!”

I wish I had a romantic story about how this business started... but it really chose me! I started with grocery store flowers. I would make bouquets with them and think, “Hmm! that would be pretty for someone’s wedding!”. I got a job at a florist and learned the basics. I took a few floral classes here in Atlanta and stretched my creative legs a bit. Then one day I did my first wedding, and it was after that I knew there was no turning back!

I love that Flaura Botanica is bespoke and original. I love the unique, the unexpected, the wild, and the romantic. I work with color and texture in nature (and sometimes elsewhere!) to tell a story that is special to my clients.

So, maybe the beginning of this flower story isn’t very romantic. But who’s to say the rest of this journey can’t be?! I look forward to the next chapter in our story.
