Severe Weather Awareness Week: RIP CURRENTS & MARINE HAZARDS

🌊 On the West side of Lake Michigan; rip currents are a real danger! If you find yourself in a rip, swim parallel to shore until you're out of it, rather than trying to swim back to the beach.

🕶️ Polarized sunglasses can help you spot the discoloration of rip currents churning up the sand.
Swim near a guard and remember, keep your feet in the sand until the lifeguard is in the stand!
